I'm heading to the vast trough of knowledge here once again.
I'm looking at center console fishing boats in the 30 - 38 foot range, primarily Donzi, Fountain, Regulator, Contender, Intrepid and Yellowfin with either Mercury Verado 300's or Yamaha 350's.
I have had a couple of Donzis previously and really liked them but the local dealer switched to Fountain and the nearest dealer is in St Augustine, 350 miles away. Of course Yellowfin and Intrepid are only factory sold, so I guess service might be a problem with them also.
I know some of you SC, NC and Fl people are off shore fishing nuts and have experience with some of these boats.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

1st choice- 32 yellowfin with twin 350 yammys...awesome boat....a little over 200k.....1 year waiting list

2nd choice- 32 contender with tripple 350 yammys.....Cody Marine in NJ...ask for Mary.....a little over 200k...6 month wait

3rd choice-32 donzi with twin 300 verados......I have this boat. a 2003 model with 250 verados. thinking of selling the motors and going with 350 verados. should go over 70 mph with them. The reason I havent gotten rid of this boat....for the money I cant find one any better for what I do with it......new one is 140k...little to no wait......would sell it for around 70k with 4 years of warranty left on the motors.

4th choice is a 27 whaler with twin 275 verados.....nice all round boat. Not built like they used to. The old designer for them went out on his own and has a new line of boats.

good luck.....need any numbers of manufactures and want to talk to them directly, give me a call or PM

Yes that is correct....Fountain is not on the list......fast but SOAKING WET BOAT....have run everything from the 23 to the 38 with 4-300 optimaxes on it. If you gave me one, I would hope that some sucker....I mean some one else would buy it quickly from me.

Hey Brian

Been over 70 in my boat.
But it scares the chit out of me and the fish!
Would you consider a trade?

Used to have a boat like yours many years ago. Could not make it break the century mark.....till I put the 427 in it. Parent made me sell it. Thought I would kill myself in it. Probably right.

Back in 82 or 83, I ran a wellcraft scarab with 3- 750 hp Mercruisers in it. Ran a touch over 120mph. Got .5 mpg at that speed, but hell of a rush....did not need drugs with a big boat going that fast :2vrolijk_21:

I've got a 1972 Whaler Cohasset 16', predecessor to the Montauk 17' that will be up for sale soon. My grandfather bought it new and kept it at his house in the Keys until he became too old to run around on the flats with it. It then went through my dad who didn't need/want it and I've had it since 1989. Since I moved to Atlanta in 1994 I've had it in the water twice. It's a terrible shame I know.
