It's tinted but pretty sure it's not 12" tall.  Seems like maybe 8". :nixweiss:  I can get more details if you want.  It was behind the parts counter, so I couldn't get a real good look at it and was concentrating on FXR3 parts at the time instead.

That sounds like a good distraction.  Those Klock Werks shields come in either 8" or 12".  The 8" were out first.  12" pieces apparently only very recently released.

Leaving right now but will do a bit more homework on it tonight.  Thanks.

Ahem,
As much as I consider Don "Twolanerider" Carey a friend, fellow biker and general all round good guy, I feel an obligation to the other 5,000 or so site members to make the following report.

A while back, I was fortunate enough to have a visit from Don. He had an open invitation to stay at Chateau Big B anytime he wanted but always declined. At the time I took it at face value when he visited, but in hindsight I now see the true intent behind his visit. Once he arrived, he gave me a rather perfunctory handshake and then said " where's the garage, I want to see LD "  Being the proud owner of probably the most overdone, expensive "stock " 07 Road Glide around, I obliged with glee. Once said motorcycle was in his sights, he went over it like a 60's CIA man coming upon a downed MIG. I think he catalogued every addition I had made to the bike and that's saying a lot cause we're in the $37,000 range for a $20,000 bike. I've shared most of my internal motor / tranny secrets with Don so he already knew what was under those Screamin Eagle logos on the cylinder heads.

It is obvious now that this "friendly visit" was an advance scouting expedition and that information was being gathered, catalogued and processed for future use- - - which turned out to be all of 45 days hence.

Members beware, when Mr Twolanerider comes knocking there's more afoot than a friendly smile and a warm handshake (ok so his handshake is a bit clammy - - probably because he was afraid I'd figure out the ruse) If you've got the best (name your model) around, it's a for sure he'll be at your doorstep before long. -- - - thinking back on it, I wondered why I saw him in the parking lot of MV 06 going over Grover's SEEG like a dental hygienist looking for a cavity. Now it's clear to me. All is clear. In fact, in spite of the vicodin haze I've been in for two days since my back spasmed me into near paralysis, the entire world is clear to me.   hahahahahahahahahah   "they're coming to take me away ha ha ho ho "

I've never seen the triple threat red Glide before. Very nice. Hmmm I don't own a red bike....
Good luck with her. She is great looking.

Wow, how quickly things change and develop around here.

Great looking bike Don, congrats on the find but more correctly, congrats on "making" the purchase.

It's nice to know that Scot has another location where he can ride now.

B B, thanks for the heads up to the membership here, it appears you have nailed the proverbial nail on the head :smash:

Am hoping the red/black stock seat isn't a ball buster or ass smasher.  Would really like to leave the stock seat on it as it just looks so damn good on the bike.  Am looking forward to getting familiar with it.

The stock seat is very comfortable for the rider, but not too great for the passenger. I'm always swapping out seats when Mama wants to go. I have a Mustang "pillow look with buttons for her" when needed. As for the tape player its not necessary these days when you can plug a MP3 or I-pod into the AuxIn next to the tape deck on the radio face. Doc

Check 103 HunDer's Winter 2000 Enthusiast SERG coverage, especially page 2, for the stuff that was published about the three tone red bikes. It's strange some came equiped with painted inner fairings and some didn't.  Doc

Thanks Jeff.  Appreciate the good words.  Put 120 miles on it late afternoon and early evening today.  Had a lot of fun.

I've always loved the paint scheme on these.  Almost as much (maybe more now) than the candy brandy Road Kings.  Those two and the red SEEG would certainly be my trifecta.

As much as I've liked them and as long as I've casually been searching for one I've only ever seen a small handful in person though.  They're rare birds.  Glad this one survived as well as it has and was this close to home.

Damn.  And I thought I was being so stealthy :huepfenlol2: !

There goes plausible deniability right down the dumper :mango: .

I'd look at LD every time I had a chance.  It's too sweet not to.  I'm still bummed it was raining buckets that day and I didn't get to ride it.  Next time....  :2vrolijk_21:

Was good to talk to you again today Brian.  Good luck at the docs and hope you get feeling better quick.  Now I've got to go cruise all my secretly hidden LD pics to get more SERG ideas :drink: .

Did about 125 on the stock seat late afternoon today.  In that distance it didn't suck; at least not yet.  My only issue so far in the fitment category is that either the seat has me too far bike or the bars need to come back a little farther.

It's not bad as it is.  But longer days would get to my upper back and shoulders.  Hand and wrist angle on these bars is very good.  I just need to be a bit closer to them.

I love the look of the bars on Brian's LD.  That would almost certainly require other cables and lines beyond the bars though.  And I don't hate these bars at all.

A different seat that moved me up a bit might kill two birds with one stone.  Something that will require more riding to be sure and a bit more homework.

GD, I can't say definitively that I know they were supplied some red and some black.  I strongly assume so because of the 10 or so of these bikes I've ever gotten to look at closely my new one here is the third or fourth that has had a black inner.  That seems an awfully high percentage to assume damage and a black replacement.

The one thing I know absolutely is that I wish this one were a nice shiny dark red rather than the dull flat black.  I also know that given a bit of time it will be :drink: .
