How many were disappointed with their dyno runs?
« on: March 09, 2008, 01:12:04 AM »

I knew I was setting myself up for a disappointment with my latest venture....

I had installed true dual headers (python/ vance & hines)

rush slip on's  2.0" baffles

opened up a/c  (stage 1)

SERT and 4 hours dyno time    and the   result.........................................

83 hp  102 ft lbs torque

I thought I had a shot at  96 hp and  110 ft lb tq

I missed both........were did I go wrong????

too optimistic??

tuner not as good as I thought?

mis matched components?

For 110 cubic inches of displacement your desired numbers don't seem terribly optimistic at all.  Admittedly I've not been paying a lot of attention to the claimed outputs of the 110s.  But your desired numbers don't seem greedy.  Who did the tuning?

I saw dyno numbers that were ran on a Duracell and they were impressive. Vance & Hines Oval Slip-ons, SERT and SE Stage I it ran 102 hp/115 ft lbs torque......

how does the bike feel??
does it run good.
don't put too much stock into dyno numbers.
they don't mean a thing as long. as you have a nice smooth graph.
have you posted it anywhere.

My numbers were 98hp and 115 ft lb tq with 8000 miles on my bike. My tunner said that my number were some of the better ones ,but the other bikes had hardly any miles. When you get more miles your numbers might come up. Like the others said when you pull the trottle back and take off does it siut you? ride safe JDO

I run RH TD, K&N filter, SERT, thats it, no internal mods. Professionally tuned at 102 hp and 121 tq. Pulls strong from 1800 rpm up to redline. Few years ago I had a Rocket 3 pushing 150 tq. Based on riding experience, the SERK numbers feel right on.

V&H TD, Ovals, K&N, SERT.  First tune 91/110.  It ran like crap and popped all the time.  Had it re tuned, 86/106 sound better runs good.  I did notice that the timing values was never changed from the canned SERT map #84 I believe.

I had the Dealer do the tuning........ They have 2 good tuners (at least I thought)

I have tried to get to keep the dealer in the loop as much as possible in case of warranty issues.

I will post the run as soon as I figure how to do it......the A/F were not as flat as I thought that they might

get ......Before the tuning the variance high to low was 12.5 to 15.5  after tuning 13.0 to 13.4

I understand perfect A/F is 14.7

the A/f ratio ref line looks like 13.0  , so they have it running rich, which I expected to cool it down.

I have not got the bike back.....I could not wait and had them fax the dyno run to me. I will pick up bike Wed

The other issue I did not disclose, that I could not wait any longer with the standard pipes so I had all of this done

with only 460 miles on the bike.......maybe my Bad?

3/12 (maybe I will change my mind when I get the Bike)

14.7 is the stock AFR - which is pretty lean.  Your result of 13 - 13.4 is not so bad...

Not to offend, but those #'s are fairly common for a 95 ci motor with a mild cam.  Maybe time for a new tuner?

FLHTCUSE3

How did is your scooter on the butt dyno? Are you happy with it? Does she come on strong in the range you ride?

If so, toss the dyno sheet in the garbage, smile and ride. It's all about you being happy with your bike, not some numbers on paper. The dyno is only a tool don't let the numbers get you down. FWIW.

yep, with catalytic converters, 14.7 is optimum ratio to ensure burning of all fuel----------nothing perfect about it for any other reason.

I've got V&H true duals and oval slippons, SE air cleaner, and SERT.  My dyno numbers came out to 88hp and 107TQ.  So your numbers are about normal.  13.4 is a good AFR.  That's about where you want it to run.   To be honest I think you can go from dyno to dyno, tuner to tuner and you'll come out with different numbers each time.  Humidity, temperature, etc., all play into the mix.
