OK.....so where did I go wrong?
I just bought a brand new 8GB Transcend SDHC Card with shipping for $47.48.
I installed Media Monkey and loaded 1116 MP3's from my Itunes Library.
I created 2 playlists. I put songs 1-560 in the 1st play list (560).
I put 561-1116 in the 2nd play list (556).

I transfered the 2 playlists to the Zumo 550 and it showed X of 1116 as it was transferring.

*note get an extrenal card reader to transfer larger amounts of data.  Trying to transfer to the card through the Zumo was taking about 10 seconds a song, or so it seemed.  I canceled after 60 songs as I needed to leave and wanted the GPS.  I decided to re transfer via the external card reader while I was gone.  It transfered about 1 second a song, so I waited to leave.

When the transfer was complete, I put the card in the Zumo.  It showed 1 of 1000.
I went to the playlists and playlist 1 showed 1 of 560.
I went to the 2nd playlist and it only showed 1 of 440.  :-[

Well 560 + 440 = 1000

Steve

Steve,

How did you transfer the playlists?  Did you drag and drop or did you "Sync" them one at a time.  The transfer should have only shown the number of songs in each playlist while "Syncing" (i.e. 560 for playlist1 and then 556 for playlist 2).  As far as the Zumo is concerned, they are two separate file sources and should read them independently with both being well under the 1,000 song limit for identification purposes. Hope this helps.

Right click on playlist name
send to -> removeable disk F (synchronize)
I sent them back to back, didn't wait for the 1st list to finish.
The transfer total jumped from 560 to 1116 when I added the 2nd play list.

 :2vrolijk_21:

NO....I guess that wasn't clear.  I was explaining how I saw X of 1116 being transfered.
I transfered 2 playlists at the same time.

Steve

Unless you are asking if I am happy with the Zumo 550 as opposed to my old Quest2.
Then the answer is Oh Hell Yeah!!!! :huepfenjump3: :bananarock:

Steve,

Just a little further clarification.  I think you said that you are using an external card reader?  You must.  You cannot transfer the files via "Sync" correctly as the extra card drive on the Zumo.  I use the SD card slot on my PC, but an external would be fine.  Sync one playlist at a time and let each finish.  Then check the files to make sure that they all were transferred correctly to the SD card.  When you install the card into the Zumo, it will only show a total of 1,000 songs until you select each playlist as your source at which time each playlist should show the correct number of songs as long as they do not exceed 1,000 songs each.  Let me know if this helps.

I can operate a 75 ton crane.

I have a CDL license and can drive a semi truck across the 48 states.

I'm a millwright, welder, contractor, estimator, draftsman, construction superintendant, concrete finisher, business owner, loving husband & father of 2, own two of the finest HD's ever built, employ 25 people, and I can shoot the eye out of a squirell at 50 yards with iron sights. But for the life of me I can't figure out downloading songs and playlists for the zumo, nor have I ever figured out our phone system here at work.

20 Steps to confusion.

Step1.  Put 8 GB card in external card reader and deleted everything.
Step2.  Launched Media Monkey.
Step3.  Deleted both playlists.
Step4.  Right Click on Playlists and selected New Playlist.  Named it Playlist1.
Step5.  Right Click on Playlists and selected New Playlist.  Named it Playlist2.
Step6.  Under Playlists, Left Click on Accessible Tracks.  All 1116 songs are displayed.
Step7.  Left Click on Song 1 and hold down the shift key.  Scroll Down to Song 560 and while still holding the
Shift key click Song 560.  This will highlight the 1st group.
Step8.  Click and hold on Song 560.  While holding the mouse button down, drag Song 560 onto Playlist2.
Step9.  Left Click on Song 561 and hold down the shift key.  Scroll Down to Song 1116 and while still holding the
Shift key click Song 1116.  This will highlight the 2nd group.
Step10.  Click and hold on Song 1116.  While holding the mouse button down, drag Song 1116 onto Playlist2.
Step11.  Right Click on Playlist1, Select Send to , Removable Disk J (synchronize).
Step12.  Display shows Copying to Removable disk (J) 1 of 560
Step13.  After all 560 songs have been copied.  Repeat step 11 with Playlist2.
Step14.  Display shows Copying to Removable disk (J) 1 of 556.
Step15.  8 GB Card now has 2 folders on the root.  Music and Playlists.
Step16.  Remove from reader and put in Zumo.
Step17.  Boot the Zumo, Go to music, wait 15 seconds.
Step18.  Browse, ALL, Play All, Shows 1/1000.
Step19.  Browse, Import Playlist, Playlist1.m3u, Shows 1/560.
Step20.  Browse, Import Playlist, Playlist2.m3u, Shows 1/440.

Good point Neal.   I will check and see what version I am running on my Zumo.  I know I updated mine and I also updated Chip's in order to get this all working.  Funny thing though, if you connect to the Zumo with your PC via USB cable, the PC shows and error that the removable drive (SD Card), has errors requesting to Scan and repair.  If you ignore, the card works fine in the Zumo once you disconnect, but if you allow it to scan and repair, the card no longer can be read properly by the Zumo???  Perhaps a compatability problem with Vista OS.  Again, once at home with the Zumo, I'll check the version and post it here.

Steve,

Looks good to me.  Every step seems correct.  This really should work.  I will check my Zumo firmware revision and see if we are running the same.  Only thing I can imagine.  What version are you running?
