We are still sorry to hear of this though. Good on you for keeping it light.

Thanks Candy, it is what it is. At least it's the end of the season. Look at it this way, 3000 on the original, 5500 more on the next attempt, 13,500 on this one! Damn, at least we're making progress. ;D

Now this will be built by Vern's decisions. Me and my friends have had many motors/top ends done by him in the last 25 years. I've always been happy, and so have our friends. And none of us are angels if you catch my drift! I'll take one of his motors over one done by people with a track record of broken chit any day of the week! ;)

Absolutely not belaboring. Thanks for thinking of my well being.

The cores were promised on a certain date. They were not delivered. To anyone. Period. That was explained fully to Howie. I know. I was there. You can sift through Howies many posts and see that he asked for special cams. He was advised to go with the cams he had(which are very similar). His choice. Cycle-Rama, went with it.

I would like to stick to factual events, unless there is some rule against it.

S'cuse me, who are you ?  What's your dog in this fight ?

No diss just curious

I imagine you will be pretty sick of breaking motors in though...
Sorry Bud, that is why we try and keep a few bikes.

Since this part wore to dust, we're dismantling the motor and replacing ALL the bearings. New Timken, new cam bearings, and if the bottom has any signs of wear or grit, the crank's going back to S&S to get rebuilt as well. Like Don said, nobody's paying but me. And for my peace of mind, this motor will be built as new again! It will stay 110" unless I have to go for oversized pistons due to wear on the barrel surfaces. I'll know more when we tear it down. No further work was done to it today. There'll be no Jims 131, no larger barrels or crank. I was very happy with the performance of the 110. Just gotta lick my wounds and move on. Chit happens, and I'm no angel with it either. Like for all the years before this, I break chit, I fix it! There endeth the lesson! ;)

That's an admirable bit of resolve Howie.  It broke.  It gets fixed.  Ride on.  Damn right.

It rides on stock Chrome Roadwinder Wheels w/the stock Dunlop 170/60R17 Wide Rear and 130/70R18 Front Radials, which I really love but wear quickly, and could be subject to change! Might have to start looking at “V” or “Z” rated tires now!

Of course, you might have to upgrade your weenie "Wide Rear" Dunlops to Goodyears.
