SERT's hard to get.
« on: March 21, 2008, 05:23:30 PM »

I have a little project going on that will be tuned by a SERT and was told today that SERT's were getting hard to find.
Something about a newer model coming out that can store 15 minutes of data.
Also that they would be $150.00 more expensive.
Anyone heard of this?

Yep, that's is exactly what I was told a couple of weeks ago when setting up my appointment for tuning the SERG.  Dealer here had ordered "several" of the old/current style, so it was not a problem for me, but something new is on the horizon.

Chip,

That's what they are calling the Super SERT. It is made by Kent Moore, no longer by TTS Power Sports. New unit, new manufacturer, new everything. Can you say Guinea Pig? :nixweiss:

Read all about it here: http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=20111.0

Thanks Chief

The regular SERT will now be obsolete I'm told.
I found some and bought 3.
I needed 2 and will save 1 for when a site member needs one and can't get it.

You'll no longer be able to get them through HD. but Steve Cole of TTS will be selling the original SERT, with upgrades, through his own company very soon. If you liked the old SERT, I think you'll like where Steve will be taking it.

I have one in my bike and like it so far, I think Champion in Roswell New Mexico has one in stock 575-624-0151 part# for the tuner is 32109-08

I have another ECM for my bike and will put one in it when Steve gets his out, I liked using the old ones in the past and had real good luck with them, just want to play with both and see which one gives the best results.

Sounds like I'll have to sit tight a while longer before doing a stage 1 in my SEUC3

In my cynical mind, I'm thinking HDs new SERT is saving the last 15 minutes of data so when your motor croaks, they will deny warranty because of the high RPM, speed or whatever.   Maybe they'll also see the high temps.

SBB, you are showing your (our) age.  That would be true if it was magnetic spinning media and it wasn't shielded.  Memory like in the USB key or thumb drive is not affected by magntism.   Because of issues in the early 80s with unshield ABS wires and controllers being affected by EMI from other devices causing your lane neighbors car to lock brakes going down the hiway. Or check engine light coming on when driving by antenna farm.

Doesn't matter, since altering the stock ECM has already voided your warranty anyway.
