To go way off topic,

I can't believe Chief doesn't have a chrome spring on his kickstand!

What's up with that?

 :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

AJ, get on him about that!

I'm gonna be all over that like a pig on s...tuff

I like that one better than the one that sticks up between the frame tubes in front of the cylinder for damn sure. But the only thing I got down there is my little chrome covered voltage reg and I know its not cooling the oil  :) Thats a 07 right? are you sure Chief did add it while he was in a chrome, accessory buying madness like we all get in at the Harley shop  :2vrolijk_21:

ok, calling on the techies here. what would be involved in mounting a touring style regulator and oil cooler to the bottom of a softail frame? how much difference in frame geometry? bet somone here could design an adaptor plate if one was needed

Ask the dealer to give you in writing the normal range of head and oil temperatures. Bet they will do a little tap dance then!

Like the looks of it and sure I could get it in chrome, but it would set super low on my bike. I feel like running the HD 26157-07 would give me some cooling and HD could not be blaming any warranty issues on after market parts.

www.wimmermachine.com/

They also offer these....

The addition of the dual tube oil coolers dropped my oil temps about 30 degrees...the first cooler dropped the temp about 20 degrees and the second dropped the temp an additional 10 degrees...It was interesting to measure the temperature of the oil going into the first cooler, then out of the first cooler, then into the second cooler and then out of the second cooler...

comes std. on the touring bikes

First thanks Neal for all the help and pics of oil coolers, here is what I came up with. Its a cooler for a touring bike PN 26115-07, with a couple of billet frame clamps PN 91147-02, a few cuts on the Ironsmith, some mig welding, beadblast, several bad words, a little Fusion black and its one the bike  :2vrolijk_21: Ran it around town yesterday in 65degree ambient temp, the oil stayed about 215 on the hwy it was down to 210. Today its suppose to be up to 75 thats where I had my 260 in town and I want to see what it is going to do there now. I did change the oil to Royal Purple 20w 50w the same time I put the cooler on, 500 mile servicel. I have found in the past, with a thermal cam that RP syn will cool the engine down about 10 degrees over HD syn. Its not a good pic, hey I do good to be a wrench Im not no photographer for sure  :2vrolijk_21:

PS you can see I also rotated the horn bracket to point the cover forward, use a little of it like the old scoops we use to put on the Dyna's after hop up. You would be surpised to feel the air flow it puts inbetween front and rear cyl. every little bit helps.
