If you want to really make yourself nervous, compare the increase in gasoline to the increase in crude over that same period of time.  From $49 per barrel to $123 per barrel, world average, which represents a 251% increase.  If you apply that same percentage increase to the beginning gasoline price in the chart, gas prices should be $5.52 right now.

This isn't so far fetched as some might believe. The worse the economy gets, the more real estate that is forced into forclosure. With Trillions in petrodollars at their disposal, the Muslim countries can literally buy America out from under us at fire sale prices. And then there's the Chinese who hold most of our debt in the form of T-bills. What the Muslims don't buy the Chinese will take via forced bankruptcy.

I would be batten down the hatches, and prepare for a ship rolling storm.
In plain English, quit spending foolishly and only spend if have to. And might add, Help a bro in need.

I read in the recent Busines Week a few articles about oil.
It is possible the prices for a barrel of crude to drop to $63.00/barrel in about a year.
I wonder how long the economy can stand during that year.
