A tough loss and especially at the age of 55.

Sounds like a great guy that touched many lives, sending thoughts and prayers his way.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of your friend.  Most have very few true friends.  It hurts to lose one.  My condolences.

Thanks everyone.  Today was tough.  The wake is Sunday and a full Fire Department sendoff on Monday.  I'm trying to have everyone bring their bikes.

The wake was Sunday.  People waited 2 hours to get in and some left because of the lines.
The funeral was yesterday. One of the fire captains bought a new uniform to bury Rich.  The FD marched besides the hearse from the funeral parlor to the church.  They had the bagpipes which adds a level of emotion that is unreal.  There was about 6 firemen that rode their bikes wearing fire helmets.  We rode our bikes behing them in front of the hearse.  One of the bikes rode at the very end of the procession because Richie always liked to ride last.
They rode by each fire house in town where boots and gear were placed ready to go.  They stopped at his autobody shop and placed flowers on his truck.   Then on to the graveyard.  The firemen picked up the tab for the food and the VFW (Richie often tended bar) donated the hall.  He will be missed.  Now we need to focus on the the living, Kim his wife and son Matt, as Richie would have wanted.

This is so different than CigarMikes post about losing his friend.  I'm so lucky the circumstances were not like that.

Thanks everyone and God Bless.
