Leather Tour Pak Backrest Interchange Question
« on: April 13, 2008, 02:40:55 PM »

Anyone know if the backrest that comes with the little leather tour paks will correctly mount on a hard chopped pak?

I can't say whether it will fit or not but I can give you a general description for you to decide if it may.  The leather TP seems to be unique in that it has a curved thick pad at the top for the passenger that leads to the pseudo arm rests.  The backrest pad is oval shaped with the feaux ostrich skin relief in the middle.  The oval pad sits under the curved pad and is attached to the lid.  I couldn't easily see how it was attached to give you an idea on distance between fasteners and such but I could.  Just let me know.  I'm arttaching a cell phone picture.

Oops, wrong leather pak.  The little pak that gets added to the Road King Classics.  That kind of leather pak.  Forgot all about the SEUC leather paks.  My bad.

It will but it doesn't fit correctly.  I bought the one for the King Tour Pack that HD has now that matched the SE leather.  I did use my speaker boxes even though they don't fit correctly either.  The angle for the leather vs the king tour pack is different.  The only way you know the speaker pods aren't correct is if you see them beside another Ultra.

But those same two mounting holes in a hard pak's lid will line up with the rest off the small Road King leather paks?  There's one ending on ebay soon that I'd get if it stays cheap enough to have Corbin recover to match a seat I'll be ordering soon.  Just don't want to have to mangle the Road Glides chopped pak for the backrest that originally came off a Road King leather pak.

Hey Don,

Feel free to come over anytime and use the pad off of my tour-pak as a test case.

Later,
