SERK Accessory recommendations for York trip
« on: April 17, 2008, 06:23:21 PM »

Looking for suggestions from those who've been there done that.

Looking at Adjustable Passenger Floorboard Kit - Chrome Part# 50768-07  Wife has longer reach wondering if there is cost benefit here. They do not appear to accomodate ironside inserts  :nixweiss:

Require luggage rack for T-Bag. Looking at:
Backrest Mounting Plate #52825-05
Passenger Backrest Pad  #52886-98c
Backrest Kit, Detach       #52933-97b
Luggage Rack                #53011-98

Need a taller windshield for roadtrip to York, looking to go Clearview route in the future.

Any thoughts would be very helpful. Probably will order from Jenny and I would like to getr this right the first time.

Thanks,

Howie

Howie,
Didn't your bike come w/a passenger backrest already? Can a luggage rack be attached to it? Or are you looking for something (luggage rack) that doesn't have to be on at all times when passenger backrest is on?

Howie, if you already have the TBag, make sure the backrest pouch size matches the backrest. Newer ones are adjustable. I have a smaller pouch on mine and can't use any of those larger backrests with my bag.

Those adjustable mounts are very expensive! I used the fixed as they're OK for Binx as is. Others have used aftermarket if I'm not mistaken.

I know it's ugly, but use luggage rack P/N 53743-97. The one you picked is mounted to the sissy bar. It can't take as much weight. But you'd need the rear detachable mounts too. But that'll give you an option for a removable TP in the future too. If you don't want the rear docking hardware, the rack you picked is correct. Just be careful on the weight you put on it. You don't need a rear docking kit for the one you picked. You already have the front docking kit on your bike, and that'll work for that sissy bar.

All I can think of about this for now. Call to discuss if ya want. :2vrolijk_21:

It did Gary but it is short and small. I haven't seen a setup that will tie in  :nixweiss:  Definitely only use the rack on rare occasions so portability will be important.

The rear docking 2-up luggage rack I suggested can be removed, and you can still retain the passenger backrest. The one you selected becomes part of the passenger backrest and is removed as 1 unit. ;)

id do the seperat luggae rack, but you will need the rear docking kit. the rear docking kit will also work with a tour pak after you add the fairing

I don't know, but I would hope ALL Howies! I guess we'll have to wait and see his response. He's probably scouring over the Catalog or HD Site, looking at all this chit again as we speak! ;D ;D ;D

Yea Howie, I've already got the Tbag. Will check and verify pouch size as I don't remember off hand. Thanks. Those adjustable mounts are expensive but when she uses the current pegs her knees are above her hips which make for an uncomfortable ride anything longer than about 2hrs (i think). Not sure if the small forward adjustment is worth the cost? Hoping we may have a member here that has tried them that might pipe in. Not sure if this is the way to go here http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448769745&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309231332&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309231332&bmUID=1208472677201&bmLocale=en_US and do these fold up?

Gonna have to take a look at the rear docking kit you mentioned. It doesn't appear as though you a fan of the aesthetics?  :huepfenlol2:
