We're at 11,020ft. here. An aspen grove in the distance behind the shield patiently waits out winter before putting its clothes of green leaves on...

Not a bad journey. Didn't think it would be as cold as it was through this part of the ride. Figured it would be in the 50's this high, but 40's and a "breeze" greeted the big twin here...

Along the way nice southern exposure is present when looking down at Bear Valley and a slice of the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area on the other side of the road. Big game in them thar woods...

And Echo Lake below the sister peaks of Mt. Evans is reached! It literally is still a black and white world here, with more white in the forecast for tomorrow May 1st...
