Don,

I trust you stayed away from last nights tornado's?  Looks like they were pretty close to home for you...

Saw that on the news this morning, and just tried to call. No answer that doesn't mean anything is wrong he may have just been up late. Left VM for him to call or get online to let us know he was ok.

Thanks for the concern guys.  Always appreciated.

To those several that have written or called and the rest that were concerned Don is just fine.

Have heard from others that non-local news reports mentioned Joplin quite a bit.  That was likely because the town was in the geographic center of a radius of about 20 miles that got nailed.  Towns 10-12 miles in three different directions got hit unfortunately hard.  More damage further out too.  But the circle here was relatively severe.

Joplin itself was left mostly clean though.  Have seen no damage reports for the area out by Travis's.  So they should be ok.  Farther south then Mobe's residence got some.  But no reports that I've seen of damage in close proximity to him either.  So we should all be fine.

Early this morning, MSNBC showed quite a lot of film showing severe damage caused by the tornado, all labeled as "Joplin, Missouri".  Based on your reports, the film must have actually been from neighboring towns.

That's why I read the raw wires and never watch "the news" for anything other then entertainment value Scott.  Lazy, uninformed and all too often just wrong.  The feeds almost certainly came out of the network stations in Joplin.  Video or copy editors didn't pay any more attention then that.  Jackasses.

Thanks to everyone for their concerned posts and phone calls for me... :P  :huepfenlol2:

(that's sarcasm followed by LOL)

We were very lucky the worst part of the storm passed 12-15 miles south of us.  We have a fairly large oak tree blown over in the front yard, but no other damage.  The wife and kids were in the basement, while I (showing superior intelligence) stood on the back porch and watched the storm go by us.  Again, very lucky.  Like most deadly storms, this one came in so fast, most people just didn't have time to react.  Several people were killed in their cars, not their homes.

I was concerned for Hobo and Scotterhair last night as the storms moved east towards them, but I have not heard anything about damages in the Springfield area.
