Yep, the earlier reports from Myrtle Beach are correct.  I spoke too soon and the SpyderPsychle's Reinharts not have given any problems.  The left pipe cracked at the same place they all seem to be cracking....at the brace that's over the tranny and where it's welded to the pipe.  Came home from the Rally early 'cause it was a ZOO down there and I didn't want to try to find a welder to have a repair done at the Beach.  (I won't attribute riding w/ the likes of OTIS, NITE-AL, HD-2003, TATER, and the fastest lady at MB having caused this problem, but after talking to my local shop just now, they said that they've had 3 recent Reinhart breakages, all on big motors, in the same spot and think it might have something to do w/ the performance motor???)  They also told me that someone, I guess BUB, was replacing the pipes when informed of the breakage.  I'm thinking of just trying to repair and maybe it'll be stronger and I'll be back on the road sooner.  I know that's what HUBBARD did after talking to Gerald Reinhart....he posted this earlier in some thread, not sure which one now.  I'll keep ya'll informed on the progress or lack thereof, as I'm in a pretty nasty mood when my scooters down.   [smiley=furious.gif]  That CVO crowds down there having fun in the sun w/o me, and it's not a good thing......... Its bad enough when you get dusted by a girl.  Got to be downright embarassing when you break your bike just trying to keep up with one  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

(also, sorry the pipe busted Spyder)

Sorry to hear of your luck...sucks to cut a road trip short.  I'd just let Bub send ya a new set....weld will not be purty enuff....plus you paid big bucks for those pipes, they oughta work....get another 26K out of a new set and you'll have your money's worth for sure.

The fact that your's broke in the same place makes one wonder if the mount there is getting too much torque from winding the engine up....'course you wouldn't do that...  [smiley=laugh.gif]  Sounds like Bub needs to address this issue with a different mount.  Good luck.

Guess this wouldn't be the time or place to advertise a new set of Rineharts I have for sale, huh?  Shortly after I bought mine, the Freedom Cycle version came out and I purchased those instead.  If interested, check "Marketplace/Selling" thread.  PJ

Elvis, you're thinking is 'right on the money' I think.  Others are voicing the same concerns.  I've contacted Bub Enterprises and I'll let you know if they're willing to do anything about the problem.  I really like the pipes, sound esp., so I'll probably fix these if they won't offer a 'corrected' version.  It would appear that their reputation is at stake here, so...........we'll see.  [smiley=confused5.gif]  spyder

What is this! Vibration, metal fatigue, poor engineering? Rineharts have a reputation for cracking. Thats why I went with the Hooker. I think I should of went D&D  [smiley=oops.gif] [smiley=shocked2.gif] [smiley=furious.gif]

SE06 is a motorcycle Goddess...I watched her from behind usually, I say usually cause I could not even think about keeping up with her except when those in front of her slowed her down...and watcing her recover effortlessly for a soft shoulder/gravel was impressive.

All due respect but I think that's a little overstatement....you work for Newsweek? [smiley=laugh.gif]  Your statement is not the reputation of Rineharts around here. You can bet that for every problem listed on some board, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of happy Rinehart owners.  Have really liked mine...performance numbers on par with a 2 into 1 (99HP/105TQ) but with far better looks and sound than a 2 into 1, IMO.  And the fit and finish on mine have been excellent. If we had the real numbers, I bet we would find there have been 'cracking incidents' on just about every pipe out there, Hooker and D & D included.  I find it telling that SpyD plans to continue with the Rineharts, even after his misfortune with them (after 26,000 miles, I might add)....that's a pretty strong statement about the product...cuz for riders I know, once you've had a set of Rineharts, other pipes just will not do.   [smiley=bigok.gif]

YMMV,

an additional passage to this new book on pipes in general - rineharts around here also have no reputation of breakage - I have called around to several shops and all I recieved was an answer of unaware of a problem - non seen on customers rides ? this is not to say some are not having problems - there just may be more to this story - are some of these pipes from the same run? just sitting back watching this one - d&d is a great pipe @2 into 1 - but I personally like the rineharts w/hi per baff

Well, finally talked to a 'live' tech at Bub Enterprises and there is a 're-call' on the rear cylinder pipe (true duals for FLHTC) because of the recurrent breakage problem with the mounting/support bracket area.  I inquired as to the 'fix'........was it reinforced or different/stronger material????   Was told that the shape/bend of the bracket was the probem so they're doing 'em different.  Just thought youse guys would want to know.  Now all I've got to do is find the invoice/paperwork........I may have a bigger problem than most.  Har!   [smiley=dunce2.gif]   spyder

Wanted to let you guys know that my local dealer replaced the broken muffler at no cost to me! [smiley=laugh.gif]  I don't know if they got it covered under warranty or if they covered it in-house.  Either way, [smiley=thumbsup.gif] it's nice to have a dealer that looks out for you!

Good news, Tommy!  That's probably one of the benefits of paying a few extra bucks at the dealer for stuff instead of ordering over the internet.  Kinda like an insurance policy of sorts.

Spyder glad you and Nite Al made it home ok . I just got  home, wet butt and feet.
Thats good they are replacing your pipe . Bryan you would have liked the trip to Charleston.
If 04 103 had been with us his GPS would have broke. We also have a good picture to post of HD03 laying on the ground working on Taters Rinehart.  Imagine that.
