There is nothing wrong with the Tmax. I would run one without auto tune till they get the bugs out. They have a map for your set up. Try it free for 30 days.

Why?  What's the problem with the current device?  And do you have a competent tuner within whatever range your comfortable with for the Thundermax if you do make the change?

Note, the tuning has been necessary for many despite supposed "autotuning" capabilities.  For some the T-Max has worked fine.  For others, however, it didn't; and never did.  Quite a few from the membership here have been installed and removed.

If you've got a local tuner who is competent tuning the device you've got a leg up.  Do not expect effective (if any) support from Zippers itself though.

Which version are you considering, the basic T-Max or the T-Max with Auto Tune?  As 2lane pointed out, make sure you have a local tuner capable of tuning either one before considering it.  The canned maps from Zipper's are a crap shoot, they may or may not be close enough for your particular bike.  If they aren't, without a local tuner you are stuck just trying to dial it in by the seat of your pants.  Been there, done that, sent it back for a refund.  And also as 2lane pointed out, Zipper's customer service leaves a lot to be desired.  If you have problems, don't look for them to be very helpful.

Tons of horror stories and tons of happy riders.

I accidentally bought this product not know that others had had problems.

I just put 3000 miles on my bike in the mountains, down at the sea side, in the heat and in the cold.  Worked great for me.

No probs with my T-Max with Autotune. I have had it on for 7500kms with not a problem or hiccup. I did however have problems with the power commander on my last bike. I took it back for a refund.

Like I said I would buy one in a heart beat. I just would not run the auto tune option till they get the bugs out. I know they are constantly making changes and updates to the Thunder Max. So they will get it right.

I've had my T-Max w/Autotune for a year now & couldn't be happier.
My SEUC runs great even in the oppressive heat & humidity of SE Louisiana.

I just plug in my laptop every so often & make a few tweaks in the curves.
Only had to call Zippers twice for customer service & they helped me out right away.

Dawg,
What kind of bugs do they have with the auto tune?  Hope your feeling better.

Do a search on TMAX, there are several threads. I think the main complaints are that the system is advertised as a no dyno slap it on install a map and it tunes it self. Buy many have had problems with the fact that the maps aren't close enough to their build and requires dyno tuning after spending over $700 on the TM/AT. The second is the customer service, many here have complained about the sketchy support.

I have the  Autotune Veresion on  on the  shelf  that I pulled off of my '05 Cherry, no issues, bike ran well. could have used  a good tune up to really tweak it,  but it wasnt' necessary, decided to back SERT, because I didn't want the hassle of going in to a dealer with a problem and them pointing  to the TMAX as the cause which we all know isn't the case but if you are in BFE, you could be hosed,,anyway  if you are interested make me an offer...Greg

isn't it funny how they do that. When my CVO crank shifted and wiped out the position sensor, Fresno HD blamed it on my Daytona Twin Tec ignition. They wouldn't touch it. I had to trailer the bike back to my dealer, I installed the stock ignition before doing so.
