The Scooters and the Hobos Visit the REGGABs
« on: June 01, 2008, 12:13:55 PM »

This weekend Renea and I were blessed to open our home to, and share fantastic times with, Shawn, Val, Cary, and Stephanie.  The weekend started off Friday evening with meeting them at the Third Base Grill on South Memorial Parkway (US231) in Huntsville.  We shared some "Road Soda," great food, alot of laughter, and great conversation.  From there, we went to The Legendary Huntsville Speedway and watched the last three races of the evening.  Scooter and Val met with one of Scooter's lifelong friends.  They spent Friday evening at their place, while Cary and Stephanie followed Renea and I back to our home.  After riding better than 500 miles that day, everyone was awful tired, so we all turned in for the evening.
Next morning, Renea and I had some errands to run.  I had to pick up the steaks for that evening's supper, while Renea had to pick up other stuff for the meal.  Cary and I took a little cruise around north Madison County, and then we stopped at Star Market to get the steaks.  I guess the market was having some debit card scanner challenges, since their machines weren't working.  Anyway, after some jostling, and the FACT that I wasn't leaving without the steaks, I managed to get them to take a VA disability check as payment.  Bottom line:  I got the steaks!  Renea and Steph went to Publix and picked up all kinds of goodies.  We were gonna eat good.
Next we met at the Space & Rocket Center.  This is when I realized that I do have a camera, and finally decided to start using it.............so here we go.  Here's a picture of Cary and Steph with the motorcycles in the parking lot.  Scooter and Val were parked on the other side of the complex.

Have a great time guys.  You might even choose to stay longer.  Rained here yesterday.  Again.  Raining here today.  Pouring.  All morning.  Again.  If it's nice and dry down there just stay and enjoy it.  But most importantly, have fun guys :2vrolijk_21: .

From the front.  This thing is HUGE!  Hard to believe this technology existed 40+ years ago.  Sorta makes you wonder what's going on these days just a mile or so south.   :)

This part of the facility is brand new.  Renea and I last visited a year or so ago.  This new stuff carries some huge historical significance.  Folks, if you haven't viewed this VERY important part of our Nation's history, please, get here and do it!  You won't be sorry.

Cary and I got on this damned thing. OH CHIT!  I left parts of me on the ground and in the air.  SERIOUS vertical acceleration!  We also rode the gravity accelerator.  That one made us all just a little queazy.

This is the "Pathfinder."  It is a full scale mock-up of the Shuttle boosters, tanks, and orbiters.  It was used to check clearancing in the assembly building at the cape as well as roadways on the cape.
