Looks like it should be a beautiful day here on Saturday and we are headed for some Chowdah!

We have been to this event for the last several years...last year it seemed like liquid smoke was the theme as there were many with a smokey flava...but only a few did it well.  They do three categories, Clam, Seafood & Creative.
Last years winner in the Clam category was Capt. Curt's...Anne believes it was because they had scantily clad teens handing out the samples...but the Chowdah was pretty good also!

Beer aint cheap but the Chowah is pretty much an all you can eat type of thing served in little single serving Jello Shot cups...that tend to stack up quick.

We'll be in the Adirondacks with our CVO brothers and sisters! You should be too Bill! They even got yer Chowdah at the Great Adirondack in Lake placid! ;)

Bill plus where Howie is having his chowdah it's probably (it's going to hurt to say this) tomato based. Even us southerners know that's not the way to eat Chowdah. ;) ;D

Down her in LA on the Low Coast...Seafood is a way of life...I prefer mine fried but any ole way will do...Some even raw, but when it comes to chowdah as ya'll are pronouncing it; my vote is New England style even with my NY, Staten lsland, Italiano roots :2vrolijk_21: Ya'll have fun this weekend; I'll be envious and pissed off at ya while I chase the rug-rats ;D

Everyone touts Legal Seafood Clam Chowdah, including the fact that it has been served at many Pres. Inaugaurations...but I have to tell you....for a cream based chowdah, I would put Davenport's    and Stoneforge Tavern       ahead of LS....waaaaaayyyyyyy ahead

Was just at LS in Peabody, MA last weekend and my opinion was confirmed, it was just plain bland.

Getting together with some old friends...GREAT
Quality of the best Chowdahs...VERY GOOD
Cost of the Beer...HIGH as the temperature
Event "Quality"...DISAPPOINTING...but we'll still go again next year. 

Two years ago there were over 30 different competitors in the three Chowdah categories.  This year, there were a total of 18.  I think I read that if you win three years in a row, you are in the Hall of Fame and cannot compete but I may be mistaken.  Maybe they should change that rule...Only three had tried a liquid smoke version (none of which were done well) but there was one with a great Sherry-laced broth unfortunately, they needed a little more substance to the other ingredients like more clams!  The three winners, were the three we voted for in the end.

but the Beer was cold which was important on such a hot day!

Actually Howie had the lobstah bisque in Lake Placid

and it bore an eerie resemblence to his biscuits and gravy breakfast the next day !
