You know I started this thread after watching the evening news yesterday. I didn't have any political agenda on my mind. I wasn't complaining about my own lot in life. I have a good job with good benefits and am paying my mortgage on time. My thoughts were not about myself. My thoughts were of those 11 million or so people without jobs. My thoughts were of the 1 million people having their houses forclosed on. My thoughts were of people with far far less than me. And lastly, my thoughts were with our brave young men and women at arms. I am disappointed that this thread got turned into yet another opportunity for some to rant on with their brand of politics. One post among all stood out in the vein I had hoped. One person who mentioned the great depression and other times in our history when all seemed dark. I thanked that person. The rest of you ?  I'm disappointed. Very much so.  Sorry I started this thread.

You're right and in calmer times I think you would have gotten deferant answers. These are tyring times and we all are looking to improve the situation we are all in , but with it being a global comunity it is very hard to find the proper road. I believe we all want the same thing and that is to live in peace and harmony and enjoy our lives. We all have deferant insights and ideas and by voicing our opinions we learn from one another and hopefully we will meet somewhere in the middle .
As for being sorry you started this thread why, you got some good answers then as all threads do it deviated in to other areas, That is the nature of the beast but you opened up discussion on important issues  and that is great , Good Job. :2vrolijk_21:

You made it sound like you were personally put out - your not.  You have a CVO, times cannot be that hard...  Honestly, they are not, the MEDIA is playing this up for the hope of getting a freakin DEMOCRAT in the white house.

Enjoy your weekend off - I am celebrating my 6 year olds birthday today...first one I have been home for in a spell.

What Bigdog said Spider! :)

Some great stuff this morning from all who posted. This is the first and only blog I have spent any time on. Not that I find agreement with what is written, quite the contrary, but because much insight is gained from reading all opinions. So, Spider you contribute a lot to all of the political threads. The nature of them to wander off the original course only adds to their value.  :)

We had a family stay with us in March because their house flooded. They have three teen age kids and used my computers to keep up on their My Space blogs. If you really want something o keep you up at night, log on o one of these and see what a huge portion of our youth concern themself with! :nervous: :nervous:

We have a big D-Day reenactment here today. There are camps, tanks, LST 325 (it was actually there), planes and full dress German and Allied army forces. Take some time this week and do a little "Jay Walking" with some people.... it's not just people walking around in Hollywood without a brain! :D

 Sorry Spider, I wandered off the subject! ;)

You are welcome B B,
I know this area can get very political and emotions run high. You talk of history and that is the only thing that will allow us to properly evaluate  our current status. Like being in a recession or depression we often don't really know it until we are out of it and can look back.
Things can be bad if you are directly affected but most of us do have it good and we take things for granted.
I believe that the way to get out of the feelings of hopelessness is to get out there and help those less fortunate than yourself.

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. You caught the drift of why I started this thread. What are the parallels to history. Have we been here before ? How did we move forward then ?  I have no complaints about my own life beyond the fact that I am unable to do much more than care for my own family. Ross Perot said something like " what's money good for once you've done everything you can for those close to you "  or words to that effect. While Mr. Perot was a bit off in some ways, he was dead on in that. My only regrets at this time is that I cannot help those less fortunate than myself to any great degree. Not to say that I don't send off $100 here, $100 there to a charity I admire, but you know my dreams of winning the lottery always include writing a big check to the church I grew up in, the Arthritis Foundation, The American Heart Association. My children's Alma Mata's (sp?) etc. Anyway, thanks again for seeing where I was trying to go in starting this thread.
