Picked my bike up from dealer Friday night.  (HD North side - mechanic Matt)  For the first time since I have had my bike, I don't have a funky feeling front end.  So this is how it is supposed to feel.  I got the neck bearings tightened, and this time - for the first time - I talked to the actually mechanic and not a service writer, owner, service manager who then supposedly relays my concerns.  I told him that from 110-115 my bike can shake so hard that it almost throws me out of the saddle.  From 85 -100 it wobblies and even in the parking lot, seems too loose - for me.  And it is me riding it so I want it to feel solid.  Well he listened to me and he did the normal oil changes, checked things and then he greased and tightened the neck bearings.  He told me he had tested it up to 90 mph and it felt good to him.  Well I rode it home Friday night and for a few hundred miles yesterday - that bike can ride down the road with no hands on it now.  Rock solid.  I love it.  Runs fantastic.
Hot here too, but Gary and Charlie are right next to us so we have about same weather.  Tim, Jamey's brother in BC yesterday said he about froze his ears off while riding it was so cold.  Can't imagine such a varied weather across the nation.

Going to ride to an early breakfast (brunch) ride this morning and then get back in the AC and watch TV, or the grass grow.

Candy,
I've got to admit, the techs at Northside are pretty good.  I trust them to work on my SEUC and they haven't let me down yet.  I just wish the owner was a little more flexible when dealing on new rides.  They lost selling the Street Glide to me because they wouldn't even budge on their pricing.  When I told them I could get the deal I got at another dealership, their response was, "Then you should buy the bike from them,"  which I did.  I went back down there two weeks ago to show them what I bought.  They weren't happy, but I told them you had your chance and you'd rather lose the sale of a bike, accessories sales, and follow-on maintenance to another dealer, then budge on price.  Oh well, their loss.   Sorry for the rant...I do like Barry their head service writer and the techs there though....

I did the same thing to the Kawa Dealer in Fredericksburg when I got my KLR - he wouldn't move off MSRP in JANUARY...  So I drove to Manassas and they were ecstatic even get a sale in the middle of VA winter, they bent over backwards - even gave me MORE off then I asked for.

PIA to drive to Manassas from Fredericksburg, but for the money I saved worth it.  (Did freeze my A$$ off riding home...)

Understand that FM.  :2vrolijk_21:  I actually made out in more ways then one in getting the Street Glide.  The dealership that I got it from is 20 miles closer to me then Richmond HD is...so that will actually be more pleasant taking in for service there.

Just got home from a short 50 mile ride. I've spent the last two days pumping basements out. We got 9" rain Fri. night. Our ride consisted of a lot of U-turnes because  of the standing water. We ran up to one place where the water was over the road  and this guy on a -I don't know a rice burner of some sorts, I told him to go first and I would be right behind him. The dummy goes, water is to the bottom of his frame but he makes it, and I wave at him make a u-ey and return home with a still shinny bike.

You got it.   :2vrolijk_21:  They've had a really bad rep, but they've replaced virtually the whole staff.  New Sales, Service, and Part Managers, and apparently a new attitude about selling bikes and after-sales service.  Will be interesting to see how much they have changed.

Do they have a new owner?  East Coast HD is where we bought our first bike there, and were long standing members until four years ago.  We had been forced to stop using their service dept and the jacked up price on their CVO bikes has precluded us buying any more bikes from them.  It would be good to hear that they have improved, because we still have a lot of friends in that area.

Since the topic of this thread is wide open, I'd like to note that I believe we have a number of military members who are serving or have served in Iraq. I would hope that they seek out each other privately via PM or e-mail if they are having issues dealing with what they went through over there. Make no mistake, I am not suggesting in any way shape or form that this is a subject for open forum discussion. However, I went through this with friends who came home from Vietnam. I did what I could, but did not have the skills, the background or the experience to help them beyond being a freind when they needed one. Still, a couple could not handle their problems and took their own lives. I am forever haunted by that. As such, I am only suggesting that those of you who have served your country in fighting this war and of course other hot spots around the world, seek out each other in private. Please , please if you are having trouble coping, get help or seek out someone you feel you can talk to. Whatever brand of politics any of you may feel I follow, you have my utmost respect and admiration.

Mrs. We.......you are my hero..........I ride considerably fast (or at least I thought so), but must admit that I seldom have reached 115.
maybe because my face feels like it is being pushed off my head or afraid if I open my mouth I will fill up with air and I will explode.........

where is the limit to a 08 CVO Ulltra?   now I am curious.......I should start a poll  "how often do you exceed the speed limit?" how long? and is it enough to get you thrown in jail if you get caught?

around my parts they have little humor in catching you at over 100 and 30 over gets automatic loss of License

Out west all bets are off.....I am not sure there is a limit in the dessert......they figure if you go fast enough to get spit into the scenery then you get what is coming to you

15+ over - I lose driving privilege on base for a year, and that is out in town as well, they (local area police from New Bern down) report to the base Commander with anyone 15+, reckless or whatever...  Add to that, every Officer and Staff NCO can report you, too many eyes.

I don't speed.

Candy,
I believe the owner is the same, but the staff is picking things up.  I know this sounds strange to a lot of people, but the service department is back to taking appointments again, not drop it off and hope they get to it sometime that week.  Also, all the bikes, including CVO's are going for MSRP, or if you talk to them, you can cut somewhat of a deal.  I think he realized, hopefully, that he needed to change his approach to selling and servicing motorcycles to compete in the area.  Wayne, the service manager, is a great guy and has a lot of experience.  His significant other, Renee', works out on the sales floor and is a sweetheart and a very upbeat sales person.  They make a great team.  I was very impressed with how they went out of their way to make me happy.  They're making a run to West Virginia on the "Million Mile" Monday and I'm going to ride along with them.   Very pleasant experience Candy, we'll see how long that last.  I told Renee that that dealership has a very bad rep and she stated they're doing their damndest to change that.  Time will tell.

There have been a million polls for how fast do you ride etc.  And I do not ride fast at all. In fact, usually everyone is waiting on me.  But every now and then, for short spurts you do get up there and I hated that my bike felt like I was riding a bucking bronco.  Now, after the adjustments, I can cruise in the 70s with out even needing my hands to hold it steady. It rides down the road straight and true.  I was not in any way trying to indicate that I am a speed demon.  I have ridden with a couple of them.  That is truly not me.  And, I am seriously in trouble if I get another ticket, I have waaaaaayyyyyyyyyy to many of them.
