HD Air Horn NFG?
« on: June 20, 2008, 03:10:32 AM »

My HD air horn appears to have gone south last night... its only old enough to have just passed the 90 day warranty.

I could hear what I thought was a slight high pressure leak coming from the compressor, but it was still working.

Now when I push the button I can hear the relay, but no horn.

Any suggestions? :nixweiss:

Sounds like your compressor may be pooched. Try by passing the relay to see if that works. THE MUFFMAN

Check the relay. Mine just went bad and Harley replaced it. We will see how long that lasts! 8)

you have a 90 day return policy but a one year factory warranty. Contact the manufacturer, they will more then likely send you a new unit with instructions to return the defective unit. THAT IS if they are reputable

I just yell really loud.  That way I don't have to worry about fuses, relays, compressors, etc.   :2vrolijk_21:

I checked the fuse... it's ok.

I assumed that the relay was ok because I can hear it clicking when I push the horn button... come to think of it, I'm not sure if it's supposed to click when the horn is sounding... horn was always drowning it out.

When I parked it yesterday, I thought I heard slow leak from the compressor.

Is HD not the manufacturer for these units?

I called the dealer last night and they won't take it back... past 90 days now... can I send it somewhere else for a one year waranty?

I have been yelling really loud... my throat is getting sore! >:(

If the throat is sore from yelling give it a rest.  Find where the air input to the horn's chamber is and hook a line to it.  Ride down the road with the line in your mouth and you can just blow like hell when you need the horn.   :bananarock:

I have the BIG Howards...  They are LOUD.

My kids like to meet me in the garage when I ride home every night, now they wait and cover their ears...  The first time I did it, my 6 year old about crapped his pants, jumped out of his skin.
