Steve - not a TSB, it is a recall. Stop by a dealer and let them know your light is staying on at times and you heard there is a problem with them.

I argued with the service writer that there was a recall.  He claimed there was not.
It is his job to know that type of stuff....

We argued some more and he brought up a web site that showed by my vin it didn't qualify for any known recalls.
If my gold key # is any basis on when it was built, it was built in the final 300-400 bikes that year and any known issues would have been cut into the prodution line.......

I hope.

I was also told I would have to pay to have them check the comp nut.  If I did nothing and it became a problem it would be covered.... >:(

Steve, if memory serves that light was a running change during the model year.  Could be mistaken about that but it rings true.  You can tell what you've got very easily though.  If the light in the tour pak is a plastic housing with an incandescent bulb inside of it you've got the "old" type.  If it's a flat LED you've got the new.

As for the compensator, I think the new torque spec was released during the 05  model year there also.  So if you're late year production you might be ok there also.  For what it's worth that one does give you real warning.  You hear and feel something different before it gets bad enough to really harm anything.  With the time and miles on your bike it's probably a fair guess that if it was going to come loose it probably already would have by now also.

In 05 the SEEGs were produced by colour.  First was the teal, then cherry and finally the banana's.  There is no way a teal was anywhere near the end of the production run. My cherry (built in February) had the old light.  From what I've read here, there and elsewhere, I believe the change to the LED was with the banana's.  The other thing to watch for on your bike other than the compensator nut is the fuel fitting where the line attaches at the tank. It was changed mid January 2005 during the production of the cherry bikes.  Went from a pressed fitting to a clamp. Yes, the old ones may leak (hence the update).

Well that's what they said, but I figured for piece of mind it was worth checking out.
Back to the light it is not flat.

No...........not all, but some folks get better service at a particular dealer than others do from the same dealer.  Maybe time to stike up a relationship with one that comes recommended. :nixweiss:

If he has luck with them you should have taken him with you.  Just a thought.

I can't think of a good reason anyone would turn away work they get paid for on a recall or warranty, why turn away work?

Anyway, good luck finding a dealer you like or making nicey nice with Neal's. :2vrolijk_21:
