Greasing steering head bearings
« on: June 23, 2008, 03:11:57 PM »

What do you use to get in there to grease the steeing head bearing with. I cant seem to find anything that will work. I bought a coupler that slides over grease zerk from the side but when i pump grease it just goes everywhere instead of in the bearings.

Change out the fitting to  a 45 degree fitting, turn to a full right, change out fitting them sneak up there and bingo>>>, fittings are a buck or two , never had any luck with the adapters..

Cant get the 45 degree fitting in there. Not much room with my big hands & very little working room in there. Going to have to let dealer pump the grease in there for me. Any other suggestions.

My hand grease gun has a flexible hose on it and with the wheels cut all the way to one side, I can wedge the nipple onto the straight grease fitting and grease the neck bearings.  Don't be surprised if you use 1/2 a tube to fill the neck.  The upper and lower bearings oozed grease at the same time.

I applied 90 degree fitting. It comes in 2 pieces. Took apart and applied.
