I've been thinking my 08 SERK sure is geared tall. First is too tall to creep along without clutch and 5th seems like all I need on highway up to 80 mph, s there a countershaft pully available with one more cog?

That is interesting because I would like a 7th gear after 80 on my 08 SERK. On flat roads I can run 6th gear at 50 and still roll on the throttle without lugging the motor. I guess everyone's bike is different when it comes to torque.

6th gear at 50 and it doesn't lug or chatter when you roll on the throttle? My roll must be a little too hard. ;D I changed my primary drive gear coming out of the tranny to a 30 tooth (stock is 32) which raises the rpm's 6% (3% per tooth) and mine lugs at 50 in 6th gear.

6th gear at 50-55, you're lugging. You might not feel it too badly with that IDS, but your motor feels it. 2000 RPM min in any gear but first for a happy motor. ;)

Ask them if there are no problems with the 110 eng, Why is HD putting the newer seals, ARC and rocker housing on the 110 engs that are being produced now.

the reason HD changed the gearing (geared up) in the newer models was to satisfy the EPA with the sound. Less RPM's = less noise = Happy EPA = lugging...... the older bikes and Europe bikes have original gearing.

If you have an 2007 and newer model, IMO you should change your gearing and richen your ride.

Richer bike = less heat.........

Enjoy your Ride.......... I DO!!!!!!!!! :bananarock: :bananarock: :bananarock:

In 6th gear? On mine, at 2000 rpm's in 6th gear you are lugging if you roll the throttle. You can baby it up but its lugging. Just saying is all, on mine anyway.

Not more than just a SERT, V&H Duals, slip on mufflers and bigger air filter.

rmarion, you are some what right in the buy product(end result), the main reason was for the lower rpm at mainshaft lock up 1 to 1 trans ratio instead of four gears moving (over drive). the only stress in the trans are the main drive gear, maindrive gear bearing and a clutch gear. sorry i don't have a better explanation but it's late . axil

according to a service guy at the dealership just south of the nascar track in loudon...we are in the minority...they have sold a lot of the 110 cvo's and had no problems with any of them...we are just a group of a few people bitching because there have been a couple of problems on a couple of bikes...at least that is what he told me.  He reads this site and says we have blown this problem all out of proportion.  Well speaking for myself, I have had two head gasket failures and the only other 2007 cvo ultra my dealership sold had the same problem at least once.  maybe he is drinking the same kool-aid as the manufacturer.

That is the same thing that they were saying abou the peeling chrome issue on the 04 SEEGs and on the 06 paint..........but if that were true (much like the 110's) then why did they have to replace so many?

The internet and this forum is our friend......not the enemy.  They really would like for the internet to go away.....we learn to much about real problems.  That's exactly why they (HD) doesn't even have a web site forum for owners.  They want to keep owners at an arm's distance.
