I am going to lobby for the rocker boxes, even though, supposedly, mine have been clearanced.  If I have to pay for them, I will.  $83 each from Chicago HD.  I am tired of the noise.

It will be interesting to hear from folks who have the rocker boxes installed to see if the majority, if not all, of the noise is gone.

john

Does anyone know where the info on the rocker boxes is? Which Tech Bulletin # it is? A copy of it? Even though mine have been clearanced, they are still making enough noise that they need to be replaced.

I just had a customer drop off an '08 S.E.Ultra for some power enhancement, and diamond cut heads and cylinders.
Also, the rear cylinder had powder coating peeling between the fins, which the MoCo is covering under warranty(7/8/08 del.date).Picked up some of the warranty parts today, and as mentioned earlier the new part #11907 base O-rings are orange in color with the cylinder base seal square sided. The warranty top end kit I was given is #17052-99B.Head gasket #16801-07B.(same as removed).
Haven't figured out the build date, but I did remove the early green base seals. The rocker box lowers are different in that they have major clearence for the valve spring retainers. The compression releases are different in that the solenoid area is larger requiring a NEW TOOL to remove them(I can modify the one I made last year).
VALVE GUIDES:Ever since '05 the interference fit, guide to head, has become looser, sometimes only .001" interference, and different methods were tried to keep them from dropping.(Out of hundreds of heads that have come through my doors,I've only seen 3 with guides that have moved). The heads on this 110 have a clip above the lower valve spring collar(??????????)requiring removal to take the collar off the head. They are the "P" castings, which IMO are miles better than the Mercury Marine(flying M) castings.
Pistons in this engine were .012" in the hole, and it cranked out 210 psi cold.

I read all of this thread and have taken notice of what you blokes have said.  Checked the service checkup with my VIN on HD site and my bike's infected.  Spoke to my local service manager this morning who knew nothing about the issue.  He spoke to head HD mechanic at the dealership who said only CVO's that leak will be fixed. i.e no problem then no fix. ( I'm lead to believe the local dealer was only advised by HD today or not much earlier. )  I took the advice bandied about here and politely told him that wasn't acceptable and produced references I had from this site.  Later today they had the HD memo detailing precisely what work/parts etc were needed and told me HD were sending letters to CVO owners on 11 August to advise of 'performance upgrade'.  Local dealer only has three bikes to worry about.  Other owners are mates of mine.  Service manager ordered parts for all 3 bikes today.

At least three of us down under are aware and prepared thanks to the discussion on this site, without it I expect we would still be mushrooms.  Greatly appreciated and thanks very much.

John,

Great information, but  :worthless:   Any chance you took some pictures for people to take a look at?

There is a Touring Filter Shell Recall Notice 0135  on certain 2007/2008 CVO's that can be a serious issue and I received a letter on it yesterday. May cause death or serios injury is what the recall letter stated. I have a 08 SEUC.

Harry,
In this case I don't think pictures will do much good.
The new base seals are square sided, and orange in color. The part # listed above is proper.
The guides make no sense at all as they look like fence posts in the port area, and I don't think the camera will show the snap ring above the lower spring collar clearly enough.
Head gaskets? Moot point ,I would use Cometic mls,.036" thick like the 113" engines use.Cometic makes them in 4" bore as well.Just be sure to use Cometic's torque specs.
If you're not going to change out the stock cams, then I would consider a thicker head gasket like the MoCo new style graphite coated replacement(proper part # above).

Last month my dealer replaced my base and head gaskets, rings, etc. This was before we knew about the program for new heads etc. My bike is a 07 SEUC. I just took her in for the 10K service, brake pads and new tires, I am riding cross country in two weeks. The gaskets were installed 1000 miles ago. While in the shop they noticed the base gaskets are weeping, front and rear. They told me it would all be taken care of when I return and have the "program" package installed. It sure makes me wonder, new gaskets going out in 1000 miles. I am just going to go and ride and not worry. When I return with 5000 more miles, we will see how the weep is doing. I wonder if this is an indication of a slipping liner? Something caused the gaskets to weep in 1000 miles. I made it clear, I don't want to take her apart three times, two is more than I want. When I return and they make the repairs, they better get it right.

Has anyone actually gotten "the" letter yet?

The GM of my local MOCO dealer told me he has been led to believe a letter is going out August 11th...

Though not a safety recall, the letter seems to state that they "urgently recommend" taking our rides in. That's  pretty strong wording ESPECIALLY coming from the moco and that's good enough for me.

John,

Great information, but  :worthless:  Any chance you took some pictures for people to take a look at?

Harry like John said, it really isn't much too look at. If you worked in a Dealership and you were actually turning wrenches then it might do you some good. Otherwise it is worthless to you and everyone here on the site. We know of the problems and know now there is a fix. Sooooo stand in line and get your chit repaired. Oh and I for got to say. And hope like hell they got it right this time!!!!!!

Of all people on this site, I think Harry would know the most about "turning wrenches".

Dawg,

I appreciate you looking out for me, but having a stock set of 110 heads at the house I wanted to compare the changes that can be compared   So for most you are right useless.
