Cylinders / rings should be in the kit. In the engineering department, still fully located in the little wooden shack on Juneau avenue, located just across the street from the multi acre HD Motorclothes R&D facility,
What is HD saying or aluding to as being the culprit here?
Head Gaskets?
Among the given lean, heat, etc. isn't it the Cylinder /Liner issue behind it all? Other than the ACR, crank nut (what)
I read the memo but do not recall all the reasons given for each part.
Cylinder slip is well documented (mine slipped front & rear) & thats why they will address that issue. Not sure why some are claiming this is not in the memo - saw it with my own eyes "cylinders". To me that means heads & rings also (kit like the last one on mine). Will be waiting to get the letter like everyone else.
ACR failures evidently were to the point they decided to go ahead with this one - mine had not failed so when mine was rebuilt I did not get new ones. Valve guides appear to be another issue & figure that MAY be why I will get new cylinders again but will check to make sure. The crankshaft nut is one I would like to get more info on, since the crank runout, of all the potential problems, is the one that troubles me the most.
Had a conversation with someone about "misinformation" on this issue (they nailed it) & am doing my best to relay what I saw. Wish my memory was better (dates on memo). The misinfo gets folks riled up & some were expecting other stuff - frankly this is about what I expected all along, except for the ACR's & that crank nut. Never figured the MoCo would spring for new motors & based on past recalls - replacing parts with an unacceptable failure rate is what you get.
