Well like I said, I will be taking my bike to another dealer for the work... I just wanted to see what the local dealer knows about the 110 fix, since I was there anyway.  It will be worth it to me to make the 1.5 hour trip, if someone that knows what they are doing is working on it.
And, not only that, I still like getting kissed when I get screwed.  If I am going to deal with a HD Service Department, they can at least act like they appreciate my business and are interested in me coming back.

Out of curiosity - which dealer do you prefer (the one that is 1.5 hours away)?

There are three HD dealers in the Oklahoma City metro area (Harley World has two of them and Ft. Thunder).  I bought my bike at ProTeam in Lawton, Oklahoma and have several friends that have done business with Foreman HD in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  None of these service departments have impressed me.
Tulsa, Oklahoma is about 90 miles NE of where I live.  I have had several good reports on the service departments of both of the dealers in Tulsa - Rt. 66 HD and Myers-Duren HD.  I hope I have a good experience at one of these dealers - I just can't see any reason to go back to the other dealers mentioned above.

The dealers win here.   :dankk2:  They get more work for the service department and the extras "while you're in there on Willie's dime, change the cam," etc.  Especially with this bunch that usually never goes back to a dealer for anything.

Others have mentioned it sounds like a sewing machine.  I have to agree, It's kind of soothing.  I think it sounds like an old Singer sewing machine- like my mom had when I was a kid.

Nothing "soothing" about it to me - drives me crazy.  I don't want my bike to sound like a sewing machine, thrashing machine, or anything else other than a Harley.  That top-end noise is one thing that they are going to take care of when they do the "Fix" on mine :2vrolijk_21:

The new bikes ('09s) are supposed to have the heat issue fixed.  Time to trade that old dog off.  -Or enjoy your Singer!   :huepfenlol2:
When I traded my '06 off last year for my new bike, the depreciation was ONLY $10,000!  Man, I felt like I really ripped the dealership off!!  I should be sending them $1,000 per month for the next year to make it seem like a good deal for them.  I like the '09s except for the goofy bags on the Ultra.
However, I'm just gonna enjoy my Singer and remember Mama.   :bananarock:

I suspect if I re-read the thread I might get an answer to this question, but here goes anyway!

My '07 has never leaked, BUT I am scared to death of this issue. I have just over 10,000 miles on the bike and I think it was built in April 2007. Should I consider replacing the cylinders - on my dime - when they do the "product improvement" work?  I certainly would not want to, but I have been working a consulting job which I had not planned on, and probably could afford it (groan).  Would appreciate any thoughts.

Ride Safe.

When the bike is torn down for the upgrades, they can tell you if your cylinders have slipped.  That would be the time to decide, and in my case I would expect HD to pay for the fix if they slipped. If not, no worries.

The only "fix" I see for the heat is the relocation of the exhaust and the addition of the heat deflectors, and that's only on the Touring models.  The engine runs just as hot, just less of the heat winds up baking your thighs and private parts.

The only item I noticed that may help the top end noise issue is the new rocker boxes.  They are a new casting (as we suggested last year rather than the reworking at the factory that obviously wasn't working) that has a lot more clearance for the valve springs.  If you suspect that this is the cause of your noise, I would suggest you have the dealer inspect for contact and replace the rocker boxes with the new design.  Warranty should cover it if the "Upgrade" program doesn't.  Of course there could also be other causes for the noise, but if it were me I would still want the new rocker boxes.

Walt, I wouldn't worry. Like iski said, if there is a problem they will fix it on their dime and not yours. After my first leak, the cylinders were replaced. Since then, all that has been replaced has been the gaskets. If the liners haven't slipped yet they probably won't. At least that's what they're telling me.
