New member here.  Picking up my CVO Fat Bob next week.  Any word on if the 110's issues were resolved before the 09s were built.  Posts on the 07-08 SE 110 issues have got me concerned.

According tocurrent info from HD, the issues were fixed prior to any 09 production.  Also, the very late 08 model 110's (produced after April 08) were fitted with the newer parts.

Just got back from having a couple of minor repairs done on my SERK. I began asking the SM some questions about the fix and he said that they haven't even gotten in the kits yet. He was under the impression that I would get new heads but I know that is the Ultra fix and not for the SERK. It will be interesting to see how this all of this turns out. With the letters due out today, you would think all of the dealers would have some parts in their hands by now.

Was at the Dealer last Wednesday, and he had received 2 "non-head" fixit kits and 1 "head" fixit kit.  I have my name on the "head" fixit kit and the Service Manager asked if I could wait a couple of weeks as they are currently down one wrench and behind a couple of days.  Told him no problem, sure hope it holds together a while longer.  Wait . . . that assumes the fixit kit has some relevance to "holding it together a while longer."  Is this a good assumption??

Ride Safe.

posted in another thread that upon speaking to my SM that new cylinders are not a part of the product enhancement <cough>recall</cough> but that if during performing the 0905 'upgrade' they determine the cylinders are outside of a tolerance that new cylinders would indeed be part of the planned upgrade.  I asked him what he thought the odds of this occurring were and he replied "50/50".  I wish I had a clue about the combusion engine and thus could give the info on the tolerance but I'm a computer dork who hasn't a clue when it comes to turning wrenches.

It looks like my SM is going to check into the availablity of the cylinders and if they are available then I'm going to go ahead with the 0905 operation now but if they are on B/O then I'm going to hold off until winter in case they are needed and just get my scheduled maintenance service done with the cruise control & hard start issues taken care of then pray she holds up on my 2,500 mile trek through the NE.

Marie & I went to Manchester this afternoon to pick up the Ultra!  :huepfenjump3:
Not a dime spent, all under warranty!!

They replaced the heads, and related items for the service bulletin.

The Ring gear was OK, no missing teeth, rebuilt the starter replacing the overrun clutch.
No more starter grinding noises!

They washed the bike (nice touch), it was bug splattered nasty when it went in.

The 98 mile trip home was the best ride I've had on the bike to date!
No Pinging, excessive valve rattle or decel exhaust pop, just Smooth power.   :cherry:

The valve rattle is substantially reduced (not gone, but much better)!
I did not request replacement of the rocker box's with the 09 design, those of you considering this may still want to pursue it.

Thanks for the report. I had been wondering if the dealer was bothering to check other things before they reassemble it.

It certainly doesn't hurt to proactively request them to check things.

Haven't gotten my letter yet but I'm wondering when I do bring my SERK in for the "upgrade" is there anything else that anyone thinks I should be doing while it's in intensive care? It's pretty much stock right now - I've just added true duals and a SERT. Seems to run pretty good - but I'm thinking of putting a different cam in - no clue as to what though. Anyone have any thoughts??? Sure would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Has anyone had an explanation on why the Road King, Dyna, and Springer don't get the heads?  My dealer indicates that they don't have a clue as the bikes have the same engine.  I think that the non-Ultra folks are getting short changed on this "fix" and I'm going to hold off on the "fix" on my 110 to see if the MOCO sees the error of their ways.

I spoke with my dealer's service manager today and he can't understand it either. Guess the only ones it makes sense to are the "bean counters". I was thinking on holding off for the same reason you stated above. Besides that not much riding time left up here. Will get the "fix" when the snow flies.

Accounting is no doubt the culprits behind this.

I too would hold out on a revised "product improvement" unless the sled was leaking of course.  You have until August of 2010 to decide afterall.

What happened to the letter writing campaign.  I like the idea of writing to the board of directors at Harley.  If you will not buy another CVO bike until you know they've got their act together, raise your hand (or thumb) :2vrolijk_21: (you can't see it, but my hand it up).

Yea, it's all Ghost rider's fault. ;)
