So, what's the latest Steve?

/Bill

I am familiar with that setting as I did turn it up a few steps as I didn't feel it was working shortly after getting the bike.

It goes back in to the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks

They called me Friday afternoon to tell me the bike was ready, but that there was no problem found with the speedometer.

I told them if they didn't replace anything that I refuesed to accept that it was fixed.
They told me if they can't see it, they can't waste time on it.

I told them I was OK with them taking it home for the weekend so that they can see what I see.
They were going to have the tech that was working on the bike take it home Fri and bring it back Sat.
They were to call me Sat to let me know what was going on.......
Thay never called.  I take that as a good sign.

Did the VTX sell?

Nope not yet......
It is not listed anywhere any longer.  I do have 1 person in the next town over that may still be interested.
But he is yet to see it in person.

The saga continues.....

Bike is "Fixed".  It was a pinched wire under the battery.  I road it home without issue.
They replaced 17052-99B gasket kit, top end.

It looks like the gorilla that worked on the bike cranked down extremely hard on the 3 windshield screws.
I can see a rainbow in the inner faring near the screw points.

Do I just loosen them a 1/2 turn or not touch them at all and return to the dealer?

Yeah, "good-n-tight" is the TQ spec. :2vrolijk_21:  Just make sure it's seated correctly and caught between the inner and outer fairings.  "Gorilla" at the dealer here split my SEEG's Clearview in the center when he didn't get it positioned correctly before cranking down on it. :sauer055:

Steve, if he gorilla'd it up that bad, ya might just wanna bring it back and have them replace it, for free of course! If ya don't go back right away, and it breaks, it'll be on you. They won't take any responsibility then. ;)

If the plastic has been stressed I think you'd be better off taking it back to dealer and letting them see it/try to correct it. If you do something now and it gets messed (cracked) up then it's on you. Bad thing about it is if it has to be replaced more then likely they will want to do (replace) it and now you have to decide if you want them (at least that tech) working on your bike again. :nixweiss:

Neal said I should clarify as I wasn't clear as to what is flexed.

It is the 3 screws that hold the windshield in, however it is the inner faring side that is flexed not the outer, not the windshield.
Because I was focused on the gauge issue, I could not stop focusing on this rainbow that was in the center point between the speed and tac.
It is on the flat surface that comes in contact with the back (inside) of the windshield.

If I had a tri-pouch it would sit on the edge and cover the problem area.

Hope that is more clear....

Take it back and point it out to them! If they stressed the "boss" on the inner fairing that the outer fairing screw goes into the paint on the inner will most likely crack. I have seen this before when the have been torqued to tight.
