Steve, my '95 Dyna did the same exact thing. Sorry to say, the speedo itself was the culprit. You still got w.....ty on that thing?

Hoist! 8)
Haven't tried it out yet, but yes.
So when/if they replace the speedo, what happens to the milage.  Does it go back to 0 and will I have to report that forever?

Thanks

if the sensor is fairly cheap id say change it yourself and see what happens before letting a dealer open up your fairing

If it's not in the ECM don't they have some way of spinning it up to present mileage?

If you're speaking of ESP normally it's $50.00 (at least that's what mine is). If you have multiple things that can be covered it'll still (I believe) $50.00.

Believe they relay the mileage / VIN information when ordering the speedo and it already comes set to that from the factory.

What I was getting at, is it really worth me buying the sensor unless it is really cheap (not likely right).
Beacuse I would get my moneys worth on the deductable as I have 2 different things that should be covered.

Where can I look up the part # of the sensor?  Can't hurt to make a call to get the price though.....
Thanks

The sensor is pretty cheap.  Also easy to change.  The other end of it terminates just under the left side cover.  It's not the problem though.

It is the sole source of sensor input for the speedo and cruise.  If the cruise control is staying steady it's not the sensor.  I think I read you saying the cruise worked.
