As most of the European riders know the stock mufflers on the International models are even more stuffed and quieter than the US Domestic stock mufflers.

I want to change from stock International to stock US Domestic mufflers and wondering whether I have to tune the engine or if I can just replace the mufflers and ride happily ever after. :nixweiss:

Does anybody have any good ideas?

Many thanks for any feedback.

And again, this site is awesome. Who came up with the good idea and started this? :)

I've tested the '08 CVO US mufflers with end cap with my V&H true duals..
'08 CVO US mufflers are catalyst.
I've tested with and without the catalyst and (IMHO) it's not a good improvement :
Not good sound (similar to our HDI mufflers) and not better performances.
Only the look is better.

I've V&H oval slip ons but they are too louder but nice sound.

Now, I look for a modification of the CVO mufflers with the core kit of FULLSAC ( http://www.fullsac.com )

They sell this for 119$.

They have a 1.75 or a 2.0 core kit for the CVO mufflers. These are continuous.
Installation of the core kit requires grinding of the stock spot welds to remove the stock cores.
The new cores are bolt in and require only a .250 hole be drilled for installation..

See pics...

I'll modify the "stock" CVO US mufflers with billet end caps and heat shields.

I wait the total cost (with shipping cost) and I'll order these.

I'll put a report after the installation.

Will the baffles fit other mufflers, Jacques?  (I'm thinking the touring mufflers I have...)

Jim

I think they are useable on all exhausts : stock or CVO ...
But you need to be a good fitter.
In my case, I look for not grind the original welds but I hope to out the original baffles if I cut around the central tube of the baffle. See the pic reply#14
In this case, it stays a plate maintained by the original welds for fix the FULLSAC baffles with rivets or welding (green cross) (also it's necessary to modify the original plates of FULLSAC baffles : cutting line in red)

on the exhaust, no grinding :

cutting line in red
green cross for rivets or welding....

It's my idea and I'll test in two weeks.
