Any Color Suggestions?
« on: July 30, 2008, 07:25:55 PM »

My son hit an oily spot last week and went down on my 2000 Fatboy. Son is fine but the bike needs a lot of work. The original color was "pearl white".  Since we will have to replace the tins, I was thinking of going with a new color for a change. I would like to stick with factory painted parts. I don't want any radical paint job. I would like to stick with the basic factory single or two-tone color scheme but in a fairly unique color. I found a picture of a 1991 Fatboy with orange/cream paint ( I believe the color is Mandarin pearl/ Birch white). I have never seen a bike this color in person but it looks pretty neat in the picture, especially with wide whitewalls like I have. I want to find a color that is fairly rare but attractive. I thought about the aqua/white but my son thinks that color looks like a girl's bike.
Any suggestions and pictures you might have would be appreciated. Thanks, ACE

Ace, I've always loved the O/W combo. It's very cool and you don't see it very much. I've got a friend with a 96 Heritage aqua/white which recieves many compliments. If I remember corectly there were two aqua paint codes but don't know about the orange. It's nice to have a unique paint job, but not one that's way out there. Just my opinion. A pic of our old pearl white bikes and his aqua, don't know if you can make it out though. Good luch and I am glad your son is OK

I had a 95 Heritage in yellow / white because I couldn't find one in aqua / white. I thought that aqua / white was one of the best looking colors ever. It never struck me as feminine at all and if I remember the orange / white your talking about it was a kind of dreamsickle color that was very nice also. In fact I remember the yellow, aqua and orange were all kind of pastels that were all gorgeous and you don't see those colors any longer. I like your thinking. :2vrolijk_21:

It's heat that your boy's OK and I feel for him, both of us have hit oil and gone down. That sounds like a nice two tone paint job, talk to an auto paint shop as they should be able to come up with codes and mix a little up so you can look at it to see if its what you want. You could just come up with your own colors to truly make your bike your own one of a kind.

I do have a pearl white 2000 Fat Boy. And I would not change the color. They don't make that tone any more (at least for the time being). The newer whites all have a gold tone to them, which I think does not fit a Fat Boy.

I think a great O/W combination would be the 07 CVO SEUC Electric Orange Sunglo and the Pearl White.  If you get a chance to see a Jester like mine in the sun, that Electric Orange explodes in the sun!  Would look great with white pearl IMO. :2vrolijk_21:

just to throw my 2 cents in, I've always liked the blue/white combo off of the Deluxe a couple of years ago. One even better would be a Red/White/Blue combo that would show off a little patriotism.

Black..which shade of black Howie?.... Oh and Howie, Dodge now makes a Black pearl that is close to your paint on on your SERK so you could get a matching cage.

The BLACK shade! ;D Or get non-vin protected paint for my bike? ::)

Company car now, and could care less about cages. But if I did, that new Challenger in Black looks awesome!!! :2vrolijk_21:

Just got back from my local dealer and after looking through several old dealer paint chip books, I decided on Burnt orange/Birch white. This was a custom color in 1998. Harley won't paint the tank decal on the side since it was exclusive to that year model w/ custom color so I am having them not place any tank decal or emblem on the sides of the tank.

Any suggestions as to what emblem would look the best on a fatboy tank  that is orange/white? I would kind of like a nostalgic look.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions, ACE
