wiring harness for the Blue Tooth addition
« on: July 30, 2008, 08:46:29 PM »

OK has anyone decided to do the install themselves?  Since the SE come with the XM aready installed and wired, and the book stating the the wiring harness is for "either the Blue tooth" or for the XM and Bluetooth.  Does that mean that the wiring harness that is on the bike already have everything it needs to add the Blue Tooth or do you still need to buy another harness?

Thanks everyone,

Sherman

You will need the Bluetooth kit as well as PN 70164-06 Wire harness overlay.
Fairly straight forward install.
Several here have done it so if you get stuck, just holler!!

have the blue tooth kit, (they no longer make them by the way)

I would have thought that the harness for the XM would have covered it.

Does the other wiring harness have a "Y" plug or something for the 35 plug housing that is for the radio?

I think the harness is used for both.. What's up with Harley's Bluetooth module? First i hear it is discontinued, then a dealer calls me and says they are replacing with a newer model, Now it does not show up in the new parts catalog. I called the dealer parts guy that told me a new one is coming and he still insist a new one is coming.. I'm in limbo here, I've already cancelled another BT solution in hopes Harley would come through.. now nothing  :nixweiss:

Harley has discontinued them.  The did an omission on the new year and you can not order the old ones.  I ordered mine about 6 weeks ago and wondered why it took so long.  When to the store and found out.  They in turn jumped on their computer system and found out which dealers in the US had them in stock and contacted them.  Mine came from Tenn., and I am in VA.

I am working on it right now trying to do the install......

When I was at the dealership today I was talking about it being discontinued; and they said that there was a different company that was making them to go on the Harley's.

that one is listed as for one or the other, and the part I was told I needed was the 70169-06,

DAMN I am thinking I may have to cough up the money and allow them the 10 minute install and charge me a couple hours......LOL

Is Harley going to sell the new version or did you mean another company would be? And curious if you got a discount on yours?
