Sounds good Dave. Vern (my engine builder) likes S&S cams too. He has 585's in his 95" Dyna Super Glide and the thing runs like a mutha! ;)

Good luck with yours, and I hope it holds together as you deserve! :2vrolijk_21:

Once again, another useless thread about bickering that has been edited so much no one can follow it.

Is there any pertinent information out there about which cams to put into a 110" when either the 0905 or 0906 campaigns are done?

Only one post was edited, and that was the original post edited by the original poster. As for the bickering........ wasn't none of that. :nixweiss:

You look like a pretty big guy.
I myself am about 350. Bigger than you so if these cams pull nice for me, wow they should make you chit your pants   LOL
With me and other half the 570 pulls real nice.
On open road or back roads, motor runs smooth, not choppy.  Do not have canned download though, tuned the ve table, afr, and timing, for this cam, exhaust, ac combo. (With real good luck)
Would rec this cam to anyone, it is working nice for me.
Don't know if there is better, can not speak of it since this is only cam I have used, but I sure do like it.
Comes on real strong about 2500 to 3000. Pulls hard till 5500.
That is perfect for the way I ride, may not be for you.
Hope this helps you alittle.
O'yea, i did use gear drive, always like them better than chain.

Well damn Dave, with a testimony like that how could I say no? My only concern is what is the factory is going to say about adding a non-HD cam to an already troubled motor. This is only reason why I'm leaning towards the 251 cams. When the time comes to have the 0905 campaign done, I will more than likely have a set of cams installed. This would be the best time to it. Although I am very jealous of 2LN, I am not however going to get the cylinders diamond cut at this time.

I just spoke to Pam and Wes at CycleRama. They were both great.!
Wes is actually working on a new cam for the 110 that is designed to do exactly what I want.
But he wants to test it out in a 110 like mine before he recommends it. That's a class act in my book!
He is going to call when he has it tested to his satisfaction.

Does anyone (from FL?) know a time frame?

AJ,

Rumor has it the testing is supposed to start soon, but you know how rumors are.

I really wonder what the new cam's name is

Having some experience (good and bad, mostly good) with peformance upgrades to my motor, my opinion/recommendation is that the 110 engine package is still relatively new, and as such I would stick to the HD components offered for that motor until out of warranty.  During that time the aftermarket should catch up with more options.  Otherwise, you are looking at completely rebuilding the motor using an experienced engine builder and proven part combinations that builder can stand behind.

I caution all, once you get over the 100 hp mark, you better focus on your bottom end.  A lot of talk on leaking head gaskets and shifting cylinder liners, but don't forget crank runout and no Timken bearing.  Cams and heads don't mean chit if the bottom end can't take it.  Just my $0.02.

Don't know how true, but I heard you need to be careful of these new heads. I'm told with the new valve guides, you can't put anything bigger than .596" lift cams in! PERIOD! And new clearance specs on them too! Do your homework gang! ;)

Hoist! 8)

What you're remembering is from document TT372 from 22 May this year.  It had several descriptive points with its #1 being:

1. The new valve guides are longer and as a result, will allow an approximate maximum of .596” cam lift. Always verify that free travel exceeds maximum valve lift by at least .080 in. (emphasis in original)

The only qualifier to the concern is whomever wrote the doc got careless mixing "cam lift" and "valve lift" in the same descriptions in the document and tied to the warning.  You really can't know for sure if they were differentiating between the two or thought they were the same thing. Unless rocker ratio was 1:1 (which it isn't) they're obviously not the same thing though.

Thanks Don, I guess we still don't know for sure since we can't get accurate specs yet. I just threw it out as as a caution. Something that needs be confirmed before doing anything more radical than .595 cams! ;)
