Thanks Don, I guess we still don't know for sure since we can't get accurate specs yet. I just threw it out as as a caution. Something that needs be confirmed before doing anything more radical than .595 cams! ;)

Absolutely.  One of those "rather be safe than sorry" things.  Given a literal reading of the document I couldn't use this Mackie 598 I've gotten so fond of.  My hunch is it's a carelessly written document.  But we don't actually know that with certainty.

Well damn Dave, with a testimony like that how could I say no? My only concern is what is the factory is going to say about adding a non-HD cam to an already troubled motor. This is only reason why I'm leaning towards the 251 cams. When the time comes to have the 0905 campaign done, I will more than likely have a set of cams installed. This would be the best time to it. Although I am very jealous of 2LN, I am not however going to get the cylinders diamond cut at this time.
Thought you may like that. A laugh every once and awhile is good for the sole.
What me dealer told me was this.
If the cam causes something to break, we will not cover it.
But they said that even if I went with se cams.
I like S&S, have used in other bikes with luck, but was going to go with se cams due to warranty(HAVE EXTENDED ALSO), but the shop said if either cam causes a problem, it would not be covered, that is why I went with what I know already that works well for me.
Now i dont know how your shop will respond, may not hurt to ask.
I am also going to open up the heads alittle bit, for some flow.
Hope this helps.
BIG  Dave ;)

You know, this is the same story I got when I added my pipes and Power Commander. The local dealer hemmed and hawed about doing it and voiding the warranty. I went to another dealer (Cox's HD in Rock Hill, SC) where the owner personally guaranteed he would stand by any problems. Hence he got my $2000. Without a doubt, I am going to discuss this with the local dealer before anything is done. I may even have to go back to Cox's to have the campaign done.

I dunno if I want to change cams or not when I have the 0905 program done.  I need the grunt way down low since I don't spin it much over 3.5k usually.  And mostly ride two-up and with the Bushtec trailer on road trips.  Seems pretty good now but can I get it better?

So If I remember my basics correctly ( and even though most do not require a prompt - please correct me if I am wrong) if I want a cam that is going to help in the low to mid rpm range I want an intake close in the low to mid 40's.
That would indicate the S&S 570, but that looks like a gear driven cam only so there is the added cost of the gear kit. The SE 251 is supposedly a low to mid range cam, but it has an IC of 46...but I believe it is a direct bolt in. By the way is the stock cam a 255 and what are its specs??? I know there was a slight argument about zippers, but it also looks like the 575-HS also has the specs needed for the 110. I could not find the specs for the cyclerama cam. I am not sure I have enough choices or enough people have tried stuff to help me make an informed decision. Maybe I need to go back and read about cams again.... I also wonder how much dyno tuning this will wind up taking/costing me..... Might just pass on the cams for now.

You are right about getting a cam that closes in the low to mid 40's, the problem will be finding a map to suite your cam choice.
The 570 is gear drive, but is worth the extra money IMHO, 3 to 5 more hp, plus no stretching, slack or play like chain.
You will have to dyno tune, or find someone who can set your, afr's, ve tables, and cam timing for your machine to run right.
Thats all I have for you, hope it helps alittle.

I decided to go with the 251 cams since I talked the dealership into honoring Zanotti's online price.

SE-251 cams
50mm throttle body - ported
SE adjustable pushrods
"product enhancement" heads -ported
D&D Fat Cat 2-1 Quiet

Will post the dyno when/if ever I get my bike back  :P

I'm expecting about 113 horse and torque of about 108 but more importantly torque that says above 100 almost all the way out to 6,000 RPM instead of falling off the cliff after 3,500 rpm the way the stocker does.

Nice safe package for that motor. Good choice if staying with the dealer. I think the numbers you're expecting are reasonable too. Think about bumping up compression a little too. Maybe 9.5-10:1. I hope they can build it right for ya. Good luck man! :2vrolijk_21:

Safe is what I'm shooting for.  I lack the expertise to push the envelope and I prefer reliability to complete balls out performance especially on an Ultra but I can't stand how gutless it feels in the upper RPM bands so since the moco is "improving" my bike now I'm having real improvement done.

As to the dealer there is someone in our chapter that had Ken at Wolverine build him a 117 and he SWEARS by them so I figure given the mild nature of my changes I should be safe.  Plus I have it in my head that since the dealer will have the heads off anyways I'm better served getting it all done in 1 stop rather than having someone else take it apart again.  I'm good taking computers apart but I seem to think my engine needs to be taken apart as few times as possible.

If things go squirrly I'll certainly let everyone know  8)

I went with the 575 cams from Headquarters. I also have Headquarter heads and manual compression releases. Bike pulls very well in conjunction with the fatcats. THE MUFFMAN

Jon I think you are talking to me with the "not radical" bit.  I'm not sure who Doug & Kevin are so no I didn't talk to them about my setup.  I basically read that the best thing you can do to liven up the 110 was to port the heads, upgrade the cams, and choose a pipe that best complimented the cams and port job.  From there I just read up on people's posts all over the intarweb and given my desire to keep the bike as Harley as I can chose the parts I thought best accomplished this based on people's posts.  I'm sure I could have chosen aftermarket stuff to either add more performance or save money but that wasn't my goal.

I have gotten some advice from Howie on some things I'm going to bring up with my SM tomorrow when I drop off the SERT key but outside of that my SM liked the component list I had chosen given the style of riding I told him I'm prone to which is heavy throttle even on the freeway.  I do like < 80mph riding but only on nice scenic winding roads what can I say.   :bananarock:
