Have you ever wondered where the Motor Company came up with the theme of the paint scheme on the FXR3's?

I did know that that was where the design came from, but never compared the two as we can with your photos.  Very similar on the side, although without the outlining, the overlaps are not quite as striking on the FXR3 as they are on the Wide Glide.  Top is surprisingly different, especially without the flame "wisp" on the right side on the FXR3 like the original has.

Yep, the first Harley "chopper" if you would. Not really a chopper, but Willie G used the chopper influence for this bike. In '85 these WG 4-speed frames were modified to fit Evo's and had a 2 year run like that until the 4-speed frame was discontinued forever. '86, last of the kickers! But the '86 FXWG Evo went back to a Flame Job before these things disappeared forever! '85/'86 FXWG, one of the best HD's ever made. A truly special bike, just like our CVO FXR's! And I love owning a truly special bike. That's why I own an '85 Black (now with Flame Job) FXWG, an '07 B/I SERK, and now a '99 BLUE3 FXR!!! Special bikes for special people I guess. And I'm so special, I need to wear a helmet all the time!!! ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
