Heated seat / accessory plug
« on: August 14, 2008, 11:59:44 AM »

Is the heated seat supposed to have it's own power plug?  I just finally got around to installing the LED spoilers...So when I pulled the seat to connect I found the seat was plugged into the accessory plug - the plug controled by the fairing button.  I dug around but could not not find another plug in that mass of wires...Did I miss somthing???

There is a seperate power plug for your heated seat.  Looks just like the accessory power plug.  There were several posts but I could not find them.

Underneath the saddle there two connectors available. On is "always on" (this one is meant for the heated seat) and the other one is switched by the Aux button in the fairing. Many '08 SEUC's have been connected wrong in the factory, hence people had trouble with the heated seat. Who would think you need two switches to get it going? Once connected to the "always on" plus the heated seat is solely operated by the two switches on the left side.

I dug and dug but could not find a second pulg.  There is a big "wedge" shape piece of plastic at the bottom of the tank that covers a lot of other wires, I pulled that off and still could not find anything.  I'm sure it's there, I'll look again next time the seat is off.

I thought my seat heater didn't work until I found out here that some came from the factory plugged into the aux plug.  I haven't looked for the extra plug but you certainly have my interest up now.

Found it.  GRC posted 03/13/06.  Far as I know this should be the same for all SEUCs.  Had to dig to find mine on my '07 jester but it was there.

Sounds interesting, looking for an alternative for my Zumo connection.  Which positons do the wires go into on the plug?

I bought the pigtail connection from the MOCO that is made to plug into the assy switch.  I wired the Zumo directly onto the pigtail and then just plugged the connectors together.  I used a meter to locate the switched position for power.  If my memory is correct, there is a position that is hot, a position that hot, but switched with the dash toggle button, a neutral and ground.  I am not very electrically capable, and was able to easily identify where to make the connections.  Someone on the site with more electrical ability can probably explain this better, but trust me, if I could figure it out with a simple meter, most anyone could.

Hot, switched to accessory switch.
Brake light.
Tail light.
Ground.

That accessory connector plug also gets jumped off of with the new harness that comes with tour pak spoilers and is the source for the tour pak spoiler lights.  The unswitched (hot all the time) leg that goes to the interior tour pak light is in a connector behind the battery.

You're better off hooking the zumo to the spare pair in the headlamp bundle. Just use the unused spade connectors there. The accy connector is perfect for some heated gear. Well, that's how I set up mine anyways.  ;)

OK, found the "other" plug, it was way under the battery.  Looks like my dealer did install on the accessory plug controled by the fairing switch.  So, I did my own product enhancement campaign and correctly reinstalled…By the way the accessory plug has another electrical plug on it too.  And, can they cram anything more on that battery????

I wanted the option of turning the power to the Zumo off with the switch...
