Wouldn't you think for $30k plus they could at least address the letter directly to you, not "Dear Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Owner"?  I was expecting to see a personalized letter with the VIN on it, but what I've seen posted here doesn't even have the owner's name on the piece of paper, much less direct identification of the vehicle to which the program pertains. :nixweiss:

When you get your "not a recall but a product improvement program" done and they ask you to sign something indicating the work was performed, make sure you read whatever it is carefully first.  I can see signing the work order if all you are doing is agreeing to let them work on the bike, and even signing something stating you got your bike back in one piece (hopefully), but I'd be real careful about signing anything else.  If anyone should be signing anything it should be the dealer signing a statement certifying they have performed the appropriate upgrade per the H-D instructions, copy to you and copy to H-D.

HeHe! It just came! Nothing like a nice personalized letter from my favorite Corporation. It reads "Dear Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Owner" Man, I feel so much better now! It's like they know me personally, and have reached out to help me with that elaborate, purely voluntary "Product Program 0906"! No mention of Product Enhancement or Product Improvement. Just a generic letter telling me how their gonna improve my life by offering this "no cost upgrade, in the interest of Customer Satisfaction". This is some funny chit right here!!! :D :D :D :D :D

But I'm still going there to get my free chit! This is one repair any dealer will be willing to do for me!!! Ya know damn well they ain't touching my bike. But they'll get to charge the MoCo for it anyway!!! ::) ;)

When we're asked to sign the bottom accepting the work that was done, we should sign it......

Drum roll please......

Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Owner

And leave it at that.  Isn't that who the letter was addressed to????

I don't want them to do any work...I just want the parts.  It will be interesting to see what they want signed for that exchange!

Letter came last Friday, dated the 11th.  Prog 0905.  I've got 2 years to have the enhancement completed.  Mileage to date, 7050, no runs, no drips, no errors. I'll wait until she leaks or winter of 2010 to have her enhanced.

What are you planning to do with one bolt, two ACRs and a handful of gaskets and o-rings?  :nixweiss:

Add it to the rest of the pile of crap and sell it! A complete 110 motor less the cases!!! It might as well have all these great Product Program upgrades!!! ;D :2vrolijk_21: :huepfenjump3:

The Ultras have had a much greater failure rate than the other models so that's why the heads are being replaced on them and not the others. I'm just guess here, but I bet if you swallow a valve guid on one of the other models, that would mean a new engine which would be pretty sweet.

You wouldn't be too upset over not getting just the heads replaced then. If I were you, I'd be looking to drop a valve guide at about 1 year and 10 months and then walk in and get your new motor. That would be sweet. :)
