I was at the dealer today and they up graded a 08 with the 09 rear cly. shutoff where when you roll throttle forward ,, at a idle it will shut rear cly. off . when motor gets hot enough.this looks like it will work on all fly by wire bikes,but you would have to check with your dealer.It only took them less 20 minutes and this was their first one doing that. ride safe jdo

Some 08's have it, mine does. While at an idle or when the engine is not running with the key on, I can roll the throttle forward and the hold it, the cruise light will blink either green (enabled) or orange (disabled) for the temp management system.

My friends 09' Roadglide appears to be the same.

From what I found out you can't just roll the throttle forward and it shuts off the rear cylinder. I have heard this from others thinking this is the way it works. On my bike when I roll the throttle forward and hold it for a few seconds it only enables or disables the temp system. I tried it on the 09 and it didn't shut off the cylinder either. So If anyone had actually been able to shut the cylinder off by just holding the throttle forward, please post it and let me know.

Either way when the system is enabled and running on only the front, If you shut it off by rolling the throttle forward it instantly goes into running on both cylinders, "IF" the engine is hot enough to already be in the single cylinder mode and you don't have the temp system on, it will go into single cylinder mode when you roll the throttle forward.

That is what I have found.

I think if your bike was built after 12-13-07 it will work just like the 09 will.

Just read your post and decided to give it a shot since my SEUC was built May of 2008. Turned the switch on, waited a few seconds and rolled the throttle forward. About ten seconds later the cruise flashed green. I'll report on how well it works tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up, I would have never known.

RBFB is correct... rolling throttle forward and holding turns EITMS (Engine Idle Temperature Management System) on, or off. Green - on, Red (Orange) - off. EITMS uses fuel richening, idle speed, and RCCO (Rear Cylinder Cut Out) to help reduce engine temps.

Tried this out on my 08 SERK last week during an MSF course.  Worked like a champ.  We had 9 bikes in the course and I spent a fair amount of time sitting still waiting for my turn through each maneuver.  It was nice to turn off that back cylinder and keep my thighs from cooking.

After readingposts on the subject,I tried it on my 08 SEUC3 and it was already loaded. I suggest yoou try it on yours before you take your ride in.
