ah crap howie we gotta quit agreeing so much...I loved the 251 cams in a 103 with mcr heads (cleaned up, really the only se head I recommend) and 10.7 compression (requires special care and feeding)...they came on at 2700 like a madman!!!!...if they don't come on 'til 3500, something's wrong, most likely need more compression...but in egultrac's defense: some folks like the engine to pull hard from 2000 rpm and do not like the low load stumble of big-overlap cams...and the 255 and 203 fit the bill for those folks...personally I want a horsepower motor, am willing to keep revs above 3000 and I want it to pull to 6000 'cause I DO go there often!

hey.man I agree...torque is cheap compared to horsepower...I like the 110 motor, and I understand the folks who want reliable, streetable performance

I was just wondering if anyone has finished this upgrade? I stopped by the shop yesterday and the bike was on the rack all torn apart. The 251's arrived and the Perfect Fit rods will be here today. I sure hope they listened to Hoist! and ordered the right size  ;D. The jugs have been honed and new rings are going in. The pistons looked real bad and may have to be changed. If anyone has done this build, is there a PCIII map I can use til it gets dynoed?

Like I said, the pistons didn't look too good:

The crank runout will be checked in the next few days as well as the transmission leak.

I've this upgrade on my '08 CUSE since 700 miles :
SE 251 cams, perfect fit pushrods and pistons high compression 10.5:1.

I use Pro Super Tuner with a MAP 205UJ004 modified (for SE 251cams but not for High compression)
This Map is near my upgrade but not the best.

It's a good improvement but I think with a good tuning, it'll be better.

Well, after some late night consultation (I still need Howie's input) I stopped down to look at the bike today. She's all torn apart:
