I read this thread & decided not to respond.

So, here is my response.  Most everything has been said, and said very well, early on.  Neal's response on page 2 is the reason this is a great site & the major reason so many of us are welcome to post here. More folks will join, some will resign & return, & others will go away forever.  Enjoyed TC's posts here even the political ones & we certainly did not agree politically.  I enjoy the opposing points of view even though I disagree with them. Possibly he will reconsider, possibly not. His decision.

I recall a time not so long ago when my political views on a site or 2 were not well received. I would not go along with the predominate views of the knuckle dragging scum brain dead dementios with poor hygiene other posters who chose to besmirch a political candidate that I was in favor of & they were against vehemently.  So, I was asked to leave & eventually after a lot of fun, I did.  Some folks are very narrow minded & some are not.  It's a wide, wide world of sports & if you choose to view it through a set of blinders, s'ok but you miss the great wobbling waboobies on the other side of the stage in the wet t-shirt contest at times.  A tragedy of sorts.

Was very disappointed to read mostly references to donuts & a variety of spirits in this thread with little to no mention of beer, however.  Beer discrimination is still prevalent & only with perseverance &  diligence can we eradicate it.   :drink:

We must throw off the yoke of Monarchy and make this Country safe for hypocrisy.
Our motto shall be "Moronica For Morons".
We will have less work and more play. Every Thursday you shall receive hamburger and eggs.
Moronica must expand!
We will extend our neighbors a helping hand. We will extend our neighbors two helping hands. Then we will help ourselves to our neighbors.

Read a few posts in the political threads.  Started to reply a couple times.  Then stopped myself.  No single issue seemed important enough to get into a back & forth about  :furious2: so I cancelled out.  Or wimped out, depends on your perspective maybe.

But I've seen enough flame wars to know I don't want to step into them.  I'm also highly Liberatarian in my views.  Both sides of the left & right centerline on various issues.  I'm OK with what others might view as inconsistent positions.  To me, they're not inconsistent.  They're just what I think.  Which is subject to change over time, but I can say for sure that what someone else posts on a web forum won't be what changes my positions.  Rather, it will be facts which change over time which will lead me to adjust how I see thngs.  Or flip flop if you prefer.  But I ain't running for office!

The one thing I think everyone needs to consider is that you lose "tone of voice" online.  Something might be said half-joking, and it can come off as a slam.  Non-verbal cues are unavailable in the purely written word.  Adding smileys doesn't help much either.  Fact is, most of us don't really know each other personally to know when something typed is just ball-busting versus really dropping the gloves for a fight.  No doubt the things I started to type and cancelled could have and would have been read differently by everyone.  Better to just leave it be & go back to the motorcycle threads.

So now I don't even look at the politics threads.  And maybe that's just my approach but if those areas get your blood boiling, better to just ignore them.  No way should politics be banned -- I think people who want to get up on the old  :soapbox: oughta be able to do so as long as it remains respectful of the legitimacy of others views who might not be in full agreement.  Didn't see yesterday's thread (yet) but I'm guessing from what others have written that this approach did not prevail.  And one of our forefather's guiding prinicples - the right of the minority view to be held, stated, and respected - appears to have taken a day off.

Hope that TC returns.  Don't know what "side" he's on & don't care really.  He did have a good history of posting on this site's primary mission, sharing helpful information about CVO's.

I agree, nether side is totally right or wrong, both have good and bad traits. Reading some threads is like passing a bad accident, you know you shouldn't look, but you do anyway!

When I think people are really trying to get mt a$$ going I just give them one of these and go on! We have to be conciderate, but you also can't be to thin skinned on this site, because most of us are a bunch of wise a$$es and should be taken as so! ::)

Thanks for that.  Very well written.  I've learned a huge lesson in this realm lately.  Reminds me of two old adages from times past "Better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool than to speak/write and remove all doubt."

And then there's my personal favorite:  "Don't let your alligator mouth override your hummingbird ass."

I've violated both..........and I regret it.

'Nuff said.
