Working on that right now Geezer!  Thanks

FYI: I just happened to be at the dealer today, info that I copied from the parts book is as follows;
66848-09 Canada and 49 State, retail price:$484.00
66855-09 California (catalyst) retail price:   $484.00

If they would have had the Canada pipe in stock we would have looked at it. The other one (66855-09) HAS the catalyst. It would be interesting to actually "look" at the Canada model and see. The dealer has no clue either way, (GO FIGURE!) but, mentioned that it's interesting that the price for either model is the same!!!
Any comments from our friends north of the border????

I was at the dealer today and here is there story. The only bike with the Cat in the header pipe is the California bike. They assured me this is the way it is. I see from a earlier post that Jim Kerr from Chicago has the Cat. Could the dealers up north be wrong.   :confused5:

Thanks for checking!
Next time you are at the dealer, see if they will let you take one outta the box, and look up the pipe!!!! We don't have the Canada models here........only Ca stuff. Dealer is not allowed to sell non-Ca stuff.....bummer for us! BUT, we can buy from Chicago or others.....go figure!
Interesting stuff, huh? Thanks for your input!
There MAY be a way to get a non-cat collector, and put whatever mufflers on you want without going to the trouble of removing the cat!!!
That is the easy way, until the aftermarket has a decent replacement.

First rule of Harley ownership is do not trust what you hear from a dealer!  They are knowledgeable about many things and are a good source of information, but they are also total idiots on a lot of things as well.  Especially when it comes to new product releases.  MoCo does not share much more info with them than they do with us.

Here's the scoop:  Cats are in 100% of all 110 2009 bikes.  They are installed in the header pipe, not the muffler.  Dealers swap mufflers and don't see cat's and assume there isn't one.  Many never even look in the header! Numerous people form throughout the country have verified and drilled theirs.  Trust me, all 2009 110's have cats...

Cats are only in the 2009 96" bikes that are sold in California, Europe and Japan.  I believe, but have not confirmed, that they are also in the header.  The rest of the USA does not have them in the header or muffler.

Two facts.

1)   My SEUC owners manual clearly states there are only cats in international and Calif bikes.

2)   My SEUC is not a Calif or international model. My SEUC has a cat. I have seen it while on the lift!

Thanks Jim!

H-D is trying to play the disinformation strategy game with everyone.  They are not telling the dealers straight out they have cats in the headers either.  The info is out there, but you have to find it for yourself.  If you pull the illustrated parts catalog for the 110" bikes and look at the header description they all say catalyst.  That is the only source I've found that clearly states a cat is in the header.  It isn't in the bike specs, owners manual, service manual or any other moco info I've found.

BTW, in 08 they were in the muffler that was removable.  EPA probably didn't like that, which is likely what prompted them to put it in the header and create the 2-1-2 pipe setup.

My bike is in the shop for the 1600 km service. Once I get it back I'm changing the exhaust (Fullsac Cores). From what I have read here I was under the impression my "Canadian  / International" version had a cat. Once I have the chance I will take a look, post a picture, and confirn what the Canadian bikes have in the pipe.

All 2009 stock 110's sold worldwide have cat's.  They are in the header pipe.  To confirm you need to pull your right exhaust pipe and look in the header.  This is basically what you will see if you have one.

Took my right muffler off my "international" SERG yesterday and there it was...a cat. Even after my dealer assured me there was none. I just finished drilling that sucker out tonight. It wasn't as pretty as yours was Jim, but it's gone. I couldn't find a local supplier for a coring bit so I used a 3/8" bit, drilled around the edges, broke the edges with a screwdriver and cleaned it up with a 1 1/2" hole saw. Now I'm a little closer to getting the rumble.

You did it the hard way, but that will work.  Just takes a lot of patience to pound that thing out with a screwdriver!

FYI, you may want to remove the left pipe and right one and run it with straight pipes for a bit. This will help blow stuff out of the pipe.  Especially in the crossover.  Just don't go crazy revving it.  The O2 sensor will compensate up to about 3K RPM.

I just read an earlier post, also from Jim, in  "1.5 inch core bits/cat removers". There it says "Sure you can remove the cat without a race tune.  I ran mine quite a bit without one.  The O2 sensor will take care of the changes below 4000 RPM.  Just try to keep it below 4K RPM.  Above that the system goes into open loop mode and it may be too lean with a significant exhaust change."

Am I OK to run up to 4000 RPM? and what is open loop mode?

You can run the bike for awhile as long as you are not getting on it hard.  The O2's will take care of it up to about 4K, but when you have wide open throttle it also bypasses the O2.  It is best to get a race tune as soon as practical.
