Chrome LED windshield strip on Screamin Eagle Ultra #1069
« on: September 12, 2008, 03:13:41 PM »

I recently purchased the chrome strip for the windshield with the LED lights.  I just read in an earlier posting that the outer lights which are designed to work as signal lights will not work if you have the Kuryakin (my apologies if it's misspelled) panecea tail light and signal lights, which I do.  I'm curious if this was something unique to the author of that note or is it common to all of us who have the panacea system installed?

That's something I was thinking of doing.  Holes have to be drilled in the outer fairing to run the wires through.  I think I just might be ok with that.

Hello Jester!

You only need to drill one hole dead center, underneath the strip to run the wire loom.  I'll be sure to measure thrice and drill once after laying some masking tape down.  I just got off the phone with tech support @ Kuryakyn.  Spoke with Casey and he said for some reason the outer lights on the strip that are designed to functin as signal lights will only work as running lights.  Evidently there is some sort of conflict between the two systems.  So for anyone else that is contemplating buying the LED bar, take this into consideration.

I installed the light bar and the panacea lights on my bike.

With just the panacea brake light and panacea rear led turn signals all worked well with the HD light bar including the outer lights flashing with the turn signals.

But when I also installed the kuryakyn front led turn signals the light bar would still flash but the opposite turn signal would also flicker on and off slightly.

Don't know why but it does.

I still have it hooked up that way since the flicker is faint and figure no one would really notice.

I might disconnect the turn signal function on the light bar if it turns into a problem.

If the opposite side flickers I would wire the light bar as only a running light.  My rear Kuryakyn (sp) directional also flickered a bit when the light bar was hooked as a directional.

The dealer installed mine (I could not bring myself to drill through the fairing).  I would hate to confuse a cage driver which way I was turning...

The light bar still looks cool even if wired as only a running light!

Brett, I have the hole setup.  The Kuryakyn Panecea tail light & turn signal lights in the rear with the LED(smoke lens) in the front.  My chrome strip windshield turn signals work great together without any problems.  If you have a problem, you don't have it install correctly.

hello hafbad,

Actually they're not even installed yet!  I bought them from a fellow who said his local Harley shop could not get the signal lights to work, although all four lights would work fine as running lights.  I then called Kuryakyn and their tech told me the signal lights will not work on the bar if you are running the Panacea system.  So, if your front signal lights are working, something might be a little different.  Do you have the part numbers for the front signal lights you installed?  I'm thinking that might be the difference.  Thats a great looking bike you've got.  I plan to add the saddle bag guards to mine.  BTW, there are chrome wire ties available that would dress up the wires running up from the "Motos".  Thanks for the input!

I have the Kuryakyn LED Conversion Lights Smoke Lens part# 4825.  $119.99.  It works great with all lights functioning perfect.

I just checked my invoice and that is the same PN I have for the front signal lights.  Sooooooo, it appears perhaps the other folks might have theirs hooked up incorrectly?  Anyhow once I get it back from the Outpost in Fairbanks and back home again I'll see what I come up with.  Thanks for the information and replies and I'll keep you posted.

I went with the CycleVisions led chrome windshield trim. Doesn't seem as bulky as the Kuryakyn version. THE MUFFMAN

You need to check the part number. I believe Kuryakyn offers BOTH a front Panacea kit AND a front conversion kit. The Panacea has a little resistor(not sure if thats the  right name for it) that you plug onto the control module that attaches to the wiring  harness under the seat that reduces the voltage to the Kuryakyn LEDs.The conversion kit are LED units that plug right into the bulb housings and use the standard HD wiring and therefore no voltage change. i believe that the front conversion kit should work with the HD LED chrome strip. Because I have Panacea front and back (and have had it on every bike I've owned) on my 08 SEUC3, I have held off buying and installing the bar because of similar "bugs" I've had in the past when replacing stock lighting with certain Kuryakyns. The conversion kit in front rather than the Panacea "should" work with the bar with no dimming or blinking. The last thing you want to do, at least here in Jersey, is to confuse the cagers even more.Good luck and ride safe.

That is a Kuryakyn 2 AMP Load Equalizer, part number 4810.  You're going to need this part to make it work.

I just purchase a "used" HD LED bar on eBay. Everything seems to be included except for the installation instructions.  Have been searching the Internet with no luck on finding a copy of the.

Does anyone have a copy of the installation instructions or a step-by-step install?
