I know a couple of you have switched out to corbin seat, hows that working.  I'm more interested in putting a solo seat on there to real show off that
fatazz rearend when no riding no passenger.  My thought is the factory seats pretty hard thought about going with a mustang day tripper with optional pillion.  My GF says the seat just sucks, told her it needed some breaking in and she told me to go find a UMM looking for a political correct :nixweiss: word here,  a big girl to ride for a 100 miles to break it in.  (Not sure how to take that) but It is pretty stiff.   What other seats are guys looking at?  I know it's a touring bike but it looks to cool to put on  a big ol pillow seat.

Somebody mentioned putting some the of the leather dressing that HD provided us and it would soften up the seat a little bit.  I tried it, it works!  I liberally applied the dressing last night and let it sit over night.  Rubbed it off, washed the bike, applied some more and rubbed it off again.  It was very comfortable today for right at 100 mile ride.

I agree!  I did the same thing Thurs night and wiped it down Friday morning.  Was out most of the day today and barely noticed the seat.  It may be a keeper!  ( especially since I'm vertically challenged and a cushion seat will not let me touch the ground too well!)

Thanks for the saddle dressing tip.  I will give it a shot.  Anythings gotta help, I mean it's actually a pretty good looking seat.

FWIW we took ours on a 1600 mile trip right out of the box and did surprisingly well. I treated it w/ the H. D. conditioner and also hit it w/ Doc Baileys and it seems to be doing well. Maybe someone has had a great first ride w/ a corbin or mustang but generally they all need some breaking in.

BUT, for gawds sake keep the other half happy. If it takes spending some $$ then it's money well spent.

When using the HD saddle dressing or any other beeswax dressing best thing to do is apply it and then leave it sit in direct sunlight for 20 - 30 mins, then leave it overnight.  Do that for 3 or 4 days and you really notice the difference.

Over the years I have tried to introduce the group to Alligator Bobs site on the web you can have your current seat modified to fit you or change it up in any way you'd like. The greatest thing about going to him is that he knows what to do in all cases. There is a product he endorses and puts in all of his seats called ProPad, it comes with a warranty from him that cant be beat, call him and talk about it before you spend your money. Check his site out at www.alligatorbob.com, Ken

A few site members have Alligator Bob seats.  I remember seeing Reo's seat on display at Alligator Bob's display at the Chicago bike show (in Rosemont) last winter.  It was pretty incredible!   :2vrolijk_21:

No question that the looks and workmanship in Bob's products is first rate and the seat was cushy to the max, but it bears mentioning that he considers himself an artist and you get what he gives you. I tried my damndest to get him to make me a pasenger backrest to match the Croc/Ostrich/Alligator seat and saddlebags SCRM-R now has which I bought used from Ken above and neither Bob nor anyone from his shop ever even got back to me, let alone was willing to do the work. This in spite of my taking the time to call him up just to praise his work to him personally. I also posted it all over this site and a lot was made of those bags and seat by many many site members. Bob certainly got a big $$$$$$'s worth of free publicity from me on this site. I also carried around flyers for his busiess and handed them out in person when I had the bags and seat on Elvis and took it all over SoCal including LaLa Land and Hollyweird. So it's not like I wasn't in Bob's corner on all counts. Grover's passenger backrest is another case in point. Grover wanted the Screamin Eagle on the siderests horizontal. Bob wanted it angled up. Grover paid the tab but Bob made did the work as he saw it. Again, no question the man does incredible one of a kind off the charts stuff. You buy his work and you won't see anything like it on another bike BUT, you get what he wants to give you in spite of price tags damn near the cost of a Sportster.

Sorry if this post upsets you Ken (Tailup) I am by no means dissing you, you were first rate in our dealings and I respect the heck out of you, but I am simply stating MY opinion here as regards working with Alligator Bob.
