We all know we need at least  an 8 team playoff.  This year there was 6-7 teams with one loss.  Losing late in the year is the kiss of death (you just can't get back/stay at the top).

Florida and Oklahoma are "probably" playing the best ball right now.  In saying that, Oklahoma got beat by Texas and Florida lost AT home.

With the current system, we will never know who "really" is the best team.

All I am sure of is that the BCS is glad that Penn State or my Buckeyes are not in the title game.   :)

Regarding OSU vs Texas in the Fiesta Bowl-if Texas keeps crying about what could have been the next month, OSU will win.  If Texas goes in with a grudge to prove, they will win handily.

Both teams live to play another day & it would be good to have that playoff.  Current system is stupid & I have said that since the inception of the BCS bowl scenario.

Congrats to the Sooners for a helluva win over Missou & to the Gators for their win over the Tide!

Looks like the Tebow/Bradford Bowl from where I sit.  2 great quarterbacks with great teams supporting their successes.

My current rant remains much like my past rant of don't know how many years - too many bowls, too many teams with 7-5 or similar record teams bowl bound - whatta joke.  Yeah, the fans get a great trip to see their team play in a bowl but if a team is hovering barely over the 50% win mark - that ain't a lot to be celebrating, IMHO. It's about the $$.

It is worse than that. U of M (6-6) is a laughable joke, they got in a bowl is a bad joke. There should be a playoff system and garbage all the rest of the bowls.

Should be 32 team single loss championship tournament.  Seeding based on BCS formula.  No automatic bids.  That would give around 30 playoff games where ALL of them are more important that any current bowl game (except the Orange).  Season can end mid Nov and Championship game on Jan 1st.  DECEMBER MADNESS!  :orange:

Yeah, before the plethora of bowls appeared, usually teams with winning records or second in conference or some semi-success were bowl bound.  Now its just $$ & as to the lesser bowls I never watch them cuz I do not care & I can waste time better doing other stuff.  The rest of the bowls - anything beyond the top 12 or so - are garbage.

Jim, That 32 would be VERY interesting.  16 is easier & 8 would be a no brainer.   The big conference gurus mostly like the present system (I found it arbitrary at best & skewed to past powerhouses at it worst from the outset) but the general population would prefer reality (or the closest thing to it) from a national NCAA pigskin playoff.

No it conflicts with the Eaglebank Bowl or the St. Petersburg Bowl or interferes with the view of the inside of my eyelids, which is much more interesting to me.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick went on a spending spree in the months leading up to being jailed for dog fighting.

The day he went to jail, Michael Vick bought a $99,000 Mercedes. He cashed four checks that totaled $24,900. He gave $28,000 to the mother of his oldest child. He paid a public relations firm $23,000 and gave a friend $16,000. Altogether on Nov. 19, 2007, Vick spent $201,840. But for the former Atlanta Falcons quarterback, the day was most remarkable for how it ended: behind bars, beginning what would be a nearly two-year sentence in a notorious dogfighting case.

The day's spending, in fact, was but a small part of the $18.2 million that flew out of Vick's hands from 2006 to 2008, according to documents filed recently in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Norfolk, Va. Nearing the end of his time in federal prison, Vick, 28, is seeking the court's protection from his creditors.

They are particularly interested in his increased spending in the three months before he reported for jail.

The documents provide a detailed look at the privileged lifestyle of an athlete who rarely offered more than a glimpse of himself off the playing field. They show how Vick, who grew up poor in Newport News, Va., bought houses and cars, farms and horses, boats and jewelry, all at the height of a spectacular career that shattered after he was identified as the key figure in an illegal dogfighting ring.

I have been out of pocket all weekend.  I finally get back in front of a computer this morning and can't believe that you guys aren't talking about the Heisman  ;D

Well, there was no joy in Florida Saturday evening.... guess the voters thought once was enough for Tebow.  And Colt McCoy kinda had that "dang Sooners cheated me again" look.

I still kinda feel sorry for Graham Harrell.  He had the numbers to get invited  :nixweiss:

Now our man Bradford has to keep his head on straight and not let the press and all the other hype distract him.  He seems to by a pretty humble kid... we will see on January 8th.

Good Luck Gators.
