Willie,

I too had alignment issues when doing the detachable tour pak and Hawg Wired "Four In The Face" conversion on my 06' FLHTCUSE. One of the issues I had was the alignment of the (docking hardware, front and rear, along with the original tour pak rail and rail cover so that everything would bolt back into the frame properly. What a pain in the booty and the docking kit instructions (front and rear on the 06') were horrendous. I found the removal of the amp and overlay harness fairly straight forward, but as you say time consuming. As I understand it the docking hardware kit for the 09' has changed to include front and rear docking points on one bracket. I don't know if that will be any simpler to install or not. All I can say is make sure you have the right tools and the patience to do the job as Willie stated. The end result is well worth the time and effort.

Tom,thanks the hard part is behind me...and thanks a MILLION to Jerry (Buckeye) for his help and advice...he was the pioneer for us on this one.  I owe him BIG time.  All I have left to do is the hawg wired install and then button everything up....hopefully!  It has been a learning experience for me and my dealership since HD parts is behind the 09 bikes a few months.  But I will be happy and I have learned a ton on this....and yes I called myself stupid several times.  I will wrap it up this weekend and hopefully post some pics.  I have had fun.

Are you refering to the covers over the docking points, or something else? I put the part # in HD search and nothing returned.

the covers over the docking points

the covers, and yes, these covers should go over the four points docking bracket, and they are hard to find, but, if you call a parts person they can look them up on the network and they will come up, and you will need them...

On mine thats all you need ...... the little magnetic covers...$39.95 for a set of 4.  They work great.  Not sure what you are talking about....probably because no one can find them.  :huepfenlol2:

BTW I also used the magnetic covers to go over the end of the black saddlebag support that now stick out slightly in front of the saddlebags....after you take off the crash bars.  HD (or at least my dealer) does not have the new version of chrome saddlebag supports that still allow you to keep the color matched filler strips between fender and saddlebag.  So I have a temp solution.
