Injector Size numbers
« on: October 12, 2008, 02:25:31 PM »

Can anyone tell me the part # for the SE 4.89 fuel injectors. I asked my dealer and he told me Harley does not offer a 4.89, that they have a 4.9 and 5.3. I know that's bull so I need the part # to order the right ones.

The 4.9 is for the SE 58mm TB's, P/N 27796-08 for TBW and P/N 27797-08 for cable operated. Both are 149.95 list/set.

The 4.89's are for earlier TB's. I believe the P/N for the 4.89 injectors is 27654-06. Not sure that's current info though. The new SE Catalog shows the 50mm SE TB, 27623-05, coming w/4.9. Maybe they rounded off this year. The dealer will only get you what's in the SE Parts Catalog. The 4.89's aren't in there. Searching HD Accessories yields no results for either P/N. :confused5:

Hoist, thanks for reply. I am trying to get the correct Harley SE injectors for the Horsepower 55mm throttlebody. I was told by T-Man to get the 4.89's. So what's the difference in the 4.9 and the 4.89. Improved or just different? I still would like to get the 4.89's , if I can find out the part # can they be ordered?

I have to believe that the 4.89 IS the 4.9 today KD. They prolly rounded off as I said. TMan should be able to get it for you with the HPI TB. I have them in my 62mm HPI TB. I bought them with my HPI from Wes. Any of these Speed Shop guys can get them for ya, even if we don't have the right P/N. There's also Marren Injection to talk to. http://www.injector.com/ ;)

Sorry if this post sounds a bit on the dumb side.

My neighbor has an 06 Street Glide. El Cajon H-D just changed out his injectors to a larger size. No re-map involved. How can that be ?

If he has a SERT injector size is one of the constant values you can update. By updating this field it adjusts the injector pulse width. based on injector flow rate.

No Sert, just a standard download  88" motor.
His bike was running ragged, had the issue with the crank runout and they put in these "bigger" injectors to smooth out the idle. He says it still idles rough, but runs stronger at higher RPMs

It makes a difference on what year TB you are using. The 04-05 are different from the 06 up.

If you have the 06 up then I have those injectors here...I can't use them because I am using the earlier TB

27654-06 Brand new still in the box

These were the ones that TR told me to get for a 55mmTB for a 114cid motor.

I don't know if they are 4.89 or 4.9's

TR thought that I was using a 06 TB on the bike but I used a earlier TB

B B...once upon a time, they had to update some bikes because of a difference in degree of spray pattern.  Perhaps that is what they did, and meant larger in terms of spray pattern.  Just a guess, maybe a good one.

A very good guess Terry.  There was a running change from the earlier 8° spray pattern injectors to the latest 25° injectors back in '06.  Of course, even that change had a different calibration for the ECM, so no matter if the dealer installed higher flow injectors or just the upgraded 25° injectors, there should have been a corresponding update to the ECM.

Good info Jerry. I believe the updated injectors were for the standard or stock 3.91's. If I'm not mistaken this did not affect the SE up graded injectors for the 4.89 ( 4.9 ) ones. Although I'm not sure of the degrees of spray output on the 4.9's.
