110 road king vibrations
« on: October 16, 2008, 11:09:28 AM »

Well after going thru 2 head gasket recalls my little 07 Road King has now got the shakes. The local dealer  has checked everything including cam and flywheel runout all checks out ok. they shipped the bike to their sister store and their techs agree their is  excessive vibration  Now the MOCO is involved. I,m waiting for their rep to visit with me and evaluate the bike. With 22,000 almost trouble free miles this bike has turned into a nightmare. you can't ride it more then 10 minutes without your teeth shaking out of your head.

With all the problems that are posted on CVO I wonder which is the best approach to take with The MOCO rep when I meet with him  next week. Does anyone know if the 2009 110 motor has been changed? If so they know they got a problem. Maybe  I should just insist on a new motor especially since it still under warranty and let them figure out whats wrong with the old motor. I would appreciate any input from anyone who has the best approach how to resolve this problem. Thanks

Welcome from WPB...New motor. 2 head gaskets in 22k miles does not sound like trouble free miles.
Tell them nothing less will do after all the trouble the head gaskets. New motor.

You need a new motor.

And welcome.

A new motor is probably what you should insist on. But are you certain the vibrations are actually caused by the engine?

Did they perhaps re-install an exhaust pipe up against or too near the frame?  With flexible mounts it may not actually touch when it's not running, but shift enough to touch when under a load.  Is it the same in all gears at the same rpm, out of gear too, on-throttle different than off?  It's hard to believe that something happened during a gasket swap to change it enough that you need a new engine.

Mine started shaking bad when a motor mount went south. That would be my 2 cents as to the problems
