Did you adjust the florrboard al the way up?  That should get away from the heat most of which in down in the header.

Notice where it's located in reference to your wife's passenger footrest, and if its at the lower point it is worse. My wife has not complained at all and this is where her footrest is located. Is yours up to the highest point? Also, if you want to roll it up and back towards the passenger you can take the small link off and swap sides, that way it will roll 180 degrees from straight up to back towards the passenger.
