I Need some Audio Advice!!!!!!!!!!
« on: October 31, 2008, 06:16:52 AM »

Hey Guys/ Gals,

I have been looking on this site for a few months now and see that you folks do your research very well.  I have 3 questions about the audio system for my 2008 SEUC. I need to know what setup you guys recommend for these 3 scenarios:

A.  Amp and speaker setup for Detachable Tour Pak.  Do I keep the HD amp and relocate it or go with a whole new setup?

B. Better speakers etc. If I decide to leave the TP hard mounted.

C. I need a higher Quality headset for listening to the radio / intercom.

Thanks in advance.  If anyone can point me to the source of these items ( ie.  Best Price and Customer Service) that would be great.  Also,  I don't really want to change the HK radio, so speaker and amp setups would be all I want to do.

Sting,

Stick with scenario (A) and go with this setup:

http://hawg-wired.com/product_info.php?products_id=80&hwID=aaec4aee09689bbfec8d6f5c297606ce

You'll love it and the versatility and sound quality cannot be beat.  Look up hd-dude (Jim) for 10% discount and lots of help with any questions you may have.

Tom,

Lowers look great.  Did you totally remove the HD amp and wiring or just disable it?  I think the Hawg-Wired is a cool setup, just have to get over the price.

Roger that. During my great west adventure this summer Jim installed some component speakers in my SEEG. Big improvement in clarity and sound. Darn near went w/ the amp but couldn't quite figure out how to sell it to the war dept. once the bill hit the Visa. Wish I would of.

Sting,

I removed the amp and overlay harness completely which enabled me to easily make the tour pak detachable. The Hawg Wired amps (in fairing) power the front four speakers, while the amp in the stock HK radio powers the two rear tour pak speakers when attached ... great setup!

One of these days.......when I get a round tuit.............and Renea lifts the cash flow restriction brought on by ongoing engine work and bike purchase......I'll get the HW.  Would love to be able to take my TP on and off, yet maintain full radio functionality, and the HW would be a great facilitator to do just that.

Yessir, Jim does us right.  I've bought two saddlebags through him, and couldn't be happier with his customer service.
