Problems with the '09s?
« on: November 02, 2008, 12:55:53 PM »

What problems have you seen/heard about on the '09s?

I've read about the potential orange peel on the front fenders so I'll keep an eye out for that.

Anyone experience major problems such as oil leaks, component failures. etc.

I know it's too soon to really know how these bikes will perform but I have to believe the MoCo did their research and remedied last year's problems.

I'll take delivery of my UCSE4 in a few weeks and want to know what I potentially signed up for.

Cheers!

Ditto, get the warranty!  The 110 still runs very hot due to the CC and tuning.  Both are fixable issues and instructions are all over this site.  Other wise, I have 1500 mi on a SERG and it's running strong.  Goes in for tune tomorrow if no rain here in So. Cal.

I wouldn't get the warranty. You are going to do mods, i.e. exhaust, intake, maybe cams etc... and i think you will find your dealer and most dealers wont cover your warranty.. don't spend money on a warranty, spend the money to get the thing to run cooler and better.  good luck have fun with the new bike

I took delivery of my Red/Maroon CVO Glide on November 1st.
It was delivered to my dealer with a yellow/black/silver side panel form the 09 CVO Street Glide.
My panel will be deliverd sometime in early December I'm told.
I am currently riding it with a black panel on one side (supplied by the deaer) it doesn't look so bad as a yellow one.
Great quality control by the boys at CVO facility.
Otherwise up to now it rides well.
Anyone had one staged yet?

Since I got my 09 SERG I have developed a problem with my neck, seems there is a direct correlation between the amount of force I apply to the throttle and the pain I have the next day. But a bottle of Advil is cheaper than than a Dyno.  8)

Get the extended warranty on the bike if you plan on keeping it more than 2 yrs. I just used my extended two days ago for a leaking fuel line and defective fuel gauge. It would have cost me over $400.00 out of pocket if I didn't have the extended which has a $50.00 deductible. They had to remove the entire fule tank and everything inside of it to repair the problems. There are way too many accessories on the CVO models to be cheap and NOT buy the warranty. Plus you can get the invaluable tire and wheel coverage for a little more. So far, my CVO has had the following repaired on it under warranty.

1. 110 motor replaced due to crank runout issue
2. Turn signal housings due to chrome paint peeling
3. Passing lamp switch
4. Heated grips
5. Saddle back electronic lock
6. HK Radio replaced (display problems)
7. Fuel gauge and sending unit inside tank

Back to the original topic. And this is really my favorite:

Has anyone had any mechanical issues with an '09 CVO Touring bike?

Ride safely,
Louis

PS: I know, peeling paint and a wrong cover sucks, but the mechanical issues are the ones that keep you from riding.

That's pathetic.  You'd think for $30,000+ they could sell you a reliable bike.
